Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread

Why's the site still up ?, if the owner won't moderate it what's the point, surely any revenue stream isn't big enough to justify the aggro felt by everyone who's ever been scammed on there.🤬

The problem is the scammers don't effect the site owner, there's zero accountability.

The scammer will scam your average Joe, they'll make an ad showing the scammer is scamming, the scammer then just makes a new throw away email and a new account.

There's small tell tale signs to keep an eye out for but again, your average joe isn't going to know or care - People see a good deal and get carried away. "Oh this £900 aeg is only £250 here? Well he wants a bank transfer but I'm sure it's legit!"

The majority of the time now I go on there when I'm bored and make sure to leave comments on the scammers I've spotted 😂

& I suppose those that do get turned over don't have, or haven't found, sites like afuk to enlighten them as to how dodgy it is there.
How about our members put a few ads up there, pointing out that its rife for scammers & that afuk is a generally safer alternative ?.
We already do our best to weed out the "wrong uns", & are also very vocal about the only safe ways to buy & sell ?

I emailed them and sent a message on Facebook over a year ago, offering to fix the contact members' issue for free and volunteered to be a moderator, and they ignored me. Seems they just dont care. I tried to warn people in comments for months on end but only so much you can do without some kind of mod access

This. I get the feeling it'll carry on this way till the owner is affected. Unfortunately though I get the feeling they're more likely to just walk away and let things get worse rather than actually fix the problems

1000%, there's no real sort of care for the website. Owner gets a couple of quid in his pocket every now and then from premium ads and the scammers boost website traffic which only helps the site owner benefit. I've been calling out scammers when I see them and they either delete the advert or mark it as sold but they just come back anyway 🤷‍♂️

I did wonder how the site makes money. I mean I can't see the money from premium ads being anywhere near enough to cover the running costs and there's no banner ads to charge for. The only other way I can think of is that they're selling on all that personal information given to them by people joining

What's the worst that could happen 🤔

Absolute scammer. He said it was FREE, I gave him my address, still no buzz lightyear OR woody toy. Would not recommend this seller 😡

It's honestly baffling. Forums like AFUK have it rough, there was that Airsoft Hub site that had to close recently because of the costs.

Somehow UsedAirsoft is still rolling along despite there obviously being zero admin input. Usually sites like that either disappear because they forgot to pay hosting, or fall over due to software incompatibility or a security exploit.
