The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread

The trouble with increasing muzzle energy and introducing a MED for all is that many people are completely incapable of judging distances at the best of times, add the extra stress/adrenaline if being in game and you've got a recipe for disaster.

There's also the issue of rentals. Sites will either have to also include pistols, increasing their costs, or hand out lower powered guns which will leave new players at a huge disadvantage ruining their day and means they're less likely to come back

I'm quite in favour of places running really simple game days occasionally. Things like ~1.1j-only guns, no MED, night games without night vision, etc.

Super simple, no-one has an advantage, no-one relying on out-ranging others, everyone has to get involved in the action.

Some of the best game days i've had i was using a standard 0.8j Marui MP5 with iron sights.

I just want longer engagement ranges and better brush penetration. Especially in summer playing at some less maintained sites is a pain as people just hide behind bushes and either are entire protected or just "don't feel it" when you hit them.
One of the realities of life is that we cannot always have what we want; under current UK law, the highest power that you are going to get for a full auto gun is 1.3J and very few sites seem to be adopting that for the reasons that others have given. 1.13J/1.14J works perfectly well; one of the sites that I play at has an area that is full of very thick bushes. We always seem to find a way of dealing with people using them as cover; it is an interesting tactical challenge.

So say the power limit gets bumped up. You get another 20m range and can shoot through that brush.

Now everyone has an extra 20m, so that added range hasn't really got you much because we're all now spread out another 20m. And the brush you can shoot through? Players can take cover behind slightly thicker brush that you can't penetrate.

As for feeling hits, if you hit a player's magazine/radio/water bottle with a 2.3j sniper they ain't gonna feel it, so upping power for that isn't much use.

Where does it stop? There has to be a limit somewhere, and with that will come the range/windage/penetration limitations too.

Doesn't really matter if it's Japan's 0.98j, our 1.3j or Austria's 1.5j.

Most important is a limit that prevents breaking eyepro, or causing actual harm, the rest is all secondary.
