Postage- bought a RIF that's been sent as a 2nd class parcel, now missing

I was under the impression and have always believed that only Parcelforce accepted airsoft weapons as opposed to Royal Mail not accepting them.
But this Royal Mail allows sending low-powered airsoft guns in the UK, but with strict rules: use Express 48 (Parcelforce) for larger ones or 1st Class minimum for smaller, always securely packed in rigid boxes, unloaded, with no pressurized gas, and sender details visible, as they're treated as restricted items requiring careful handling and specific services. High-powered airsoft guns (over 1.3 Joules) are prohibited, and gas magazines/cylinders are generally banned, so ensure they're removed and depressurized.

@snuff back in October/November last year Royal Mail and Parcel Force went through a process where many of their services were combined/consolidated, no doubt a cost saving measure. Notice the websites are virtually identical now. Guessing all the packages now go through the same sorting mail centre now for each county.

Is this tongue in cheek?

I've had a 'few' item from the classifieds sent across the border without any issues.
No it wasn’t, but I should have given more detail. If posting guns to Scotland I don’t send special delivery or 24 hour tracked. I suppose it might depend where in the U.K. you live, but I’am the other side of the country in the south of England, and those guns would be sent by air, and scanned. No problem with 48 hr tracked as they wouldn’t be flown.

I've had multiple rif's (80+ from these classifieds) sent from all over England to me via many carriers without any issues other than a badly packaged Vector bursting out of the box, and a few I've sold going South without any issues.

I’am telling you what I have found. Sold air pistols to people in Scotland, they both asked for special delivery, both were flown, both were scanned, both were opened, both had a copy of the buyers AWL in the package, both were delivered after being re-packaged and sealed.
I have bought from Airsoft World several times, had to return a pistol, they arranged collection and said if I posted it would most likely be stopped and destroyed.
I have sold airsoft guns to people in Scotland and they always ask me to use 48hr tracked or 48 parcelforce.
As far as I know you can only send guns, be it airsoft or airguns by RM or Parcelforce, I’am not aware of any carrier who will accept guns from a private individual, you have to have a business account with the company for them to carry any type of gun.
If you have had 80 + guns delivered to you in Scotland without problems, you have been extremely lucky I think.

Personally I’ve never had an issue. (To Scotland)
I always ask the sender to send any rif I have purchased by PF48, as I understand it, they accept low powered rifs, but will not insure them
I’ve had 50+ sent to me in 5/6 years of buying
