Seller has sent a RIF as a 2nd class parcel.

If they scan it and find an Airsoft gun, is that goodbye parcel?

The label on the picture also says up to 250g which it will be quite a way over.

I have always sent PF48 and declared the contents, and I assumed that would just be the case on purchasing, it always used to be the only way privately.

The seller is the customer so any actions by yourself might not get anywhere.
I've had a Kriss Vector fall out of the box on the way to me because the seller didn't wrap it properly but it still got to me safe & sound (one mag had a vector shaped dent in it tho)

Best case scenario is it gets delivered a bit late, worse case is the seller refuses to refund you & you raise a paypal dispute which you are likely to win.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

Will PayPal refund on a a gun though?
I don't think they allow payments for guns of any type in their T&Cs

(j) ammunition, firearms, or certain firearm parts or accessories, or (k) certain weapons or knives regulated under applicable law.

Not a firearm or an illegal so I don't see an issue.

2nd class! 250g! :D:D

Was it sent signed for? It's basically the cheapest service Royal Mail do with just £20 compensation and RiFs aren't covered. Got to be sent Express 48 and dropped off at the Post Office, however depends on how they handle it, might just arrive as normal.

When was it sent?

When you say 2nd class do you mean 48hr tracked.

No, 2nd class parcel.
Having just got off the phone to them they did say if it's been identified as an Airsoft gun they will have destroyed it. Ah well.
I will give it another week.

It’s down to the seller unfortunately, if he’s messed up with the weight declared, and I presume it’s not trackable, then make a claim with PayPal, be a bit careful what you describe it as. I presume you paid by PayPal goods and services.

So just to clarify this - PayPal are not bound by the uk
law definition of a firearm and an airsoft gun is very much a firearm in the terms of the definition they use - don’t be fooled by thinking they must use our legal definition. I can’t find it right now but PayPal defines a “firearm” to Include anything with the “appearance” of a firearm

For PayPal you can always raise a case.
Note that their terms & conditions have changed many times - all gun related things were prohibited worldwide, which was followed to permiting where appropriate under national legislaton

Its the senders problem when sent by an invalid method (unless it was under your instruction)

Don’t worry about the weight being over, that can just mean the maximum of the method/price selected. On my proof of postage receipts most show the method limit, and only on a few does it show the scales weight

Your ‘worry’ is how easy it is to get your money back. For PayPal just initiate the dispute process and state that it is for non delivery

As above, it’s all drop down menus, you don’t need to mention anything about it being any type of gun.
As long as you paid by PayPal goods & services of course, as you haven’t said how you paid.

How long since it was sent ?, if its more than a week start your PayPal dispute for non delivery, be aware that RM don't class something as lost until 28 days has passed.
Also, once started, NEVER cancel a paypal dispute until the issue is 100% resolved, item or money in your hands, as paypal won't allow you to reopen it.

Right guys, seller has been fine and I'm happy with the stuff I bought.

It showed up last night at 8pm, the royal mail guy reckoned he'd still got 2 hours to go.

AFUK seems to have been down otherwise I would have updated.

Good to hear it all worked out. Hopefully the seller will have learned a lesson from this. Anyone with lower morals could easily claim it never arrived and demand a refund leaving them without either the cash or rif

Phew that was lucky. It was me and a total FU,the OP has received it.For whatever mysterious reason I posted it RM std 2nd class but added the weight as 250g.It was a total mess up and I hold my hands up,it was a genuine senior moment. My old feedback would have told anyone that I usually do things right but on this occasion. No real excuse although I was posting a lot.I was shocked when I looked at the picture of the label and saw the incorrect weight...eek.That got me worried tbh.I would normally do it PF 48 signed for .Thanks to the OP for being so honest and understanding, enjoy.

A little bit of extra info just in case anyone accidentally posts with 2nd class and the recipient says it hasn't turned up.

Phone Royal Mail, explain the situation and give them the long code that's on the label, they "should" confirm the GPS location of the posting as the package is still scanned. Then at least you can get a good idea of whether or not the recipient is lying or not.
