Played a few all day battle sims where you can camp the night before the game and/or night after the game and there’s strictly no alcohol on site even if camping yet alone during the game.

As others have said sounds like a fun recipe for disaster.

@Cannonfodder ....I've always said that if i won enough on the lottery i'd hire Brands hatch and get some mates to do some timed laps, then have a beer, then do some more timed laps, then have another etc.... Just for shits n giggles.

Where did you see/hear that Ultimate Wargames has changed hands? If it has, I might go back there again.

Red One were running games there for a while alongside Ultimate, but that seems to have ended.

Someone mentioned it while i was up at the Modern warrior shop. It may just be hearsay, but as its within walking distance of my house, i might give it another go....

Most airsofters are only too pleased to talk about their RIF's and most will let you handle then and try a few shots, excellent try before you buy! Also there's a lot more out there than the M4/AR15/AK types - my preferred platforms are the FAL/SLR and AUG variants, sprinkled with a number of WW2 and random bits .

@Egon_247 ahh the one at Horton Kirby might be the one I was thinking of. I get my car MOT'd nearby and it popped up on Google maps.

I was also near Bayham Old Abby last week and came across Barnyard CQB, looks pretty decent if you're into something closer.

Hi all. I'm in my 60s and totally new to this arena. My partner has been keen to get into this for some time and I was holding off. I have experience with archery, LARPing and mediaeval re-enactment (all many years ago now), so all this newfangled stuff left me a bit puzzled. I know absolutely nothing about guns beyond a 44 Magnum being the biggest handgun in the world and a .50 Desert Eagle trumps one that says 'replica'.

Anyway, he just bought his first RIF (a Honey Badger!?) and it's a funky bit of kit. I am now deep down a rabbit hole I never expected to be in. I'm learning about MOSFETs and ECFS and the difference between Picatinny and K-loc and about a million other things to do with the safe charging of LIPO batteries. Oh my Gods. So much.

I thought this was a world inhabited by testosterone fuelled teens and wannabe Navy Seals but the rabbit hole has shown there to be people who are as silly as my old LARping buddies (safety was paramount there, too), so colour me interested. I'm now looking to get my UKARA number and a decent first gun (maybe not in that order - we'll see).

Any advice/guidance/suggestions happily accepted. Looking forward to seeing some you at a future adventure.

That's so cool, I was literally just saying in another thread... I'm making a comeback 11 years getting distracted elsewhere, I'm gonna be here till I'm dead! I seriously want to be THAT grandad who the site owner sees, and has to literally call and check the insurance is ok with a 94 year old playing!

Airsoft always was and always will be a bunch of absolute nerds, it's fucking fantastic! LARPing must have SUCH a crossover! I don't know if the tables have turned, but it wasn't exactly common to see many women there at most of the sites I went to, let alone anyone taking themselves too seriously... most of the time anyway. It's toy guns, anyone actually trying to be serious got laughed at. There's always one knobhead every now and again, who gets an extra couple of rounds with the pistol loaded with 0.45s! But you DID notice the odd person, who was very, VERY good. It was more common to met someone who was supernaturally good, really chilled out, and they wouldn't tell you why... you knew they'd done some serious firearms training somewhere, be it police armed response, or something a bit more tasty. But they wouldn't tell you SHIT, and that was a surefire sign someone knew how to do the real thing. x100 if it was with a pistol instead of a rifle.

As for being accepted, the moment you turn up with a partner who already plays, you're already cool as fuck: we LOVE it when people bring kids and partners, it's so cool seeing new blood come into the safe zone!!

Biggest tip is be safe: really good trigger discipline will make you popular in an invisible way. Oh and wear full face protection, always. Unless you really don't care about losing teeth. Less likely in woodland, but seen it numerous times.
