The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread

Easily? Not in practice, they couldn't.

You'd literally need to change UK law, superseding the Policing & Crime Act 2017 where the current 1.3J full auto limit is a matter of statute.

After that, liability insurance policies will need to be underwritten again and premiums may go up as a result for site owners.
I'm not talking about legal issues surrounding that, I'm well aware of those. I'm more talking from a pure power output perspective. UK limits are extremely low compared to a lot of countries around the world. Not as bad as Germany or Japan but still low. Many countries run much higher limits and no one complains that 1.3j is too much for full auto

So what? We just come back to the problem of trying to define what problem or issue would be resolved by running at 1.3J for full auto.

Improved brush penetration and very slight boost in range. There's really no difference to 1.14 and 1.3 though Redditch is why I don't see the big deal a about it. Only reason most sites stick to 1.14j is because it's a nice round number on .2s and means that if players run a little hot it doesn't legally turn it into a firearm.

I'd say in an ideal world I would like to see limits increased to 1.6 or even 2j for full auto with med below which you switch to semi or use a pistol. And sniper limits could be easily boosted as well to match.

I'm confused, this forum, & the game in general, is chocka full of players who have been happily playing with the current fps/j rules, some of us have been playing long enough to remember even slightly lower site limits.
Yet most of us are hooked, borderline addicted, & have happily accepted the rules as they've stood for decades.
& we've all seen the kind of irresponsible small dicked arseholes that repeatedly try to cheat chronos, change outputs mid game, & in some cases injure players with their stupidity.
So why, even if its just hypothetically, are some trying to justify higher outputs, surely that's just pandering to the minority (thankfully) that seem intent to spoil the game for everyone but themselves.
& opinions like "raising the limits will bring those running stock guns up to the level of those that are heavily tuned" is just naive horseshit, the arseholes won't be happy with that, they'll still feel the need to exceed the limits, aka cheat🤬
It'll be a vicious circle, just with more ouch🤕

It appears that you cannot come up with any problem or issue would be resolved by running at 1.3J or even 2J for full auto. If you want to prove what a big tough chap you are, I am sure that the Royal Marines would welcome you.

As I stated in my first comment: "I rather fail to see what increasing power limits would solve or improve in airsoft; is it just that some people desperately need to demonstrate how manly, or possibly womanly, and tough they are?"

Sometimes, in fact quite often, it is best to just leave things as they are; changing them can risk ruining everything.

Absolutely 👍

Its a false equivalence to assume that wanting more power limits is the same as having the whole "just tell them to wear face pro" mentality.

My motivation for wider limits is situational, whilst a field with wide open sightlines and longer average engagement distances i can see more power being useful. It's not a panacea for every site.

In the hypothetical scenario i'm trying (and admittedly failing) to put across anything north of 1j i'd be running an med because 1j point blank is about as much owchie as i'd want in this sport.

And you can be damn sure that med is calculated based on .48's because you know someone is going to be doing that.

Of course as has already been pointed out this is in happy dreamland where sites actually understand physics, and players actually follow the rules.

I said more range and better brush penetration though? Do we need more of a reason? It's not about being tough or not. I'm just saying I have played with both higher and lower limits and never hand an issue in countries with higher limits. I did have an issue with German limits as they're frankly ridiculous.

...who have been happily playing with the current fps/j rules, some of us have been playing long enough to remember even slightly lower site limits.

When I returned to airsoft a few years ago, I was surprised how many sites were 1.14j or 1.3j even. I distinctly remember everywhere I played circa 20 years ago was 328 with a .2 (joules hadn't been invented yet) plus 10% leeway but 350 was never the target.

Neither of which are really a problem or an issue and certainly not a reason for increasing power limits. If limits in your ideal world were increased to 1.6J or 2J, I can guarantee that some players would soon start making the same argument to push the power higher because their BBs were still not giving them enough range or brush penetration.

Learn to play within the limitations imposed by power limits.

We really need to step away from FPS and accept joules as the way to chrono. 1j is 1j regardless if it's a .48 or .2. the .48 will carry the energy further due to physics but it will never be more than 1j.

I just want longer engagement ranges and better brush penetration. Especially in summer playing at some less maintained sites is a pain as people just hide behind bushes and either are entire protected or just "don't feel it" when you hit them.

Both of those can be achieved with heavier weights though and minor tweaks though really

All increasing the power will do is attract even more dick heads who want an airsoft gun for the wrong reasons further putting the hobby into more jeopardy than it already is in the eyes of the powers that be

The trouble with increasing muzzle energy and introducing a MED for all is that many people are completely incapable of judging distances at the best of times, add the extra stress/adrenaline of being in game and you've got a recipe for disaster.

There's also the issue of rentals. Sites will either have to also include pistols, increasing their costs, or hand out lower powered guns which will leave new players at a huge disadvantage ruining their day and means they're less likely to come back
