New to sniping

Hello,

I have been airsofting for 3 years using AEGs. The heaviest weight I use is .25 so I went ahead and bought a sniper.

The Cyma m24 pro.

I am using .40 bbs with M24. When I shoot it with the hop turned max up there is a slight lift with the .40 BBs and the range is not bad. (330 FPS on .40BBs and 480 FPS on .20BBs)

So here is my question.

If the hop was decent wouldn't it over hop on max hop with .40 BBs or is this normal behaviour for .40BBs?

And if this is not normal and the stock hop up is garbage which hop up rubber should I get for this specific M24?

It's likely that the stock hop just isn't good enough to lift heavier ammo.
You could try a new bucking to start with.

From what I know, it takes standard AEG buckings.
I don't know how effective the stock hop unit is, but AirsoftPro make an aftermarket one.

Yeah, I'd question the quality of a stock Cyma hop up. I'd definitely try a new bucking at the very least, but I'd also probably look at getting that CNC hop unit @Hudson linked

The Sniper mechanics Flamingo or Negative Airsoft bucking (both the same, except different colours) would be a good place to start, when it comes to options.

Hello,
Online i have read that the M24 types of snipers take specialised hop rubbers and do not accept vsr and aeg hop rubbers. Is this true?

I couldn't tell you with any certainty either way I'm afraid.
Just a quick look this morning gave the results above; the AP hop unit appears to use AEG buckings with what looks to be a little adapter at the mouth of the bucking.

If that's the case, then I don't think you'll be able to get a replacement bucking for the standard hop unit that's an improvement, and the AP unit will likely be your only option.

I have disassembled the rifle and here are pictures of the hop rubber. I cannot identify it. The hop arm dosent even have a nub. Does this help identify what type It is?
