What I have come to understand about pistols

in 10 years of airsofting i got away with that once, and that was only because the other guy had fully committed to rushing me during my reload.

Yeah, same here. I think I can count it on one hand. Most of the time it's better to just quickly reload and re-engage with the rifle, or even just quickly reposition / fall back out of danger and then come back in

Indeed; probably once or twice in the time that I have regularly carried a GBB pistol. I probably used an electric pistol rather more as it had full auto and a 100 round mag.

It's a pretty quick lesson to learn, stay where duck and reload is an option or get wrecked.....

You also learn pretty quick that having a mag to swap>swapping that mag quick

Or you can be a real crazy person and carry both MK23 in crossdraw and GBB on the belt

I'll quite often take 2 or more GBB's into a game when I take a bolt action, can never have enough fire power

I have left and right hand holsters so if I get caught short I can draw both, it's not always effective but there has been times it's been handy.

The Mac10 is also a favourite, people don't expect that when they rush you (I have a slight addiction to Mac's, 4 and counting)

@Adolf Hamster has hit it, that for most players a pistol is just another weight sat in a holster (and if you have a drop leg then it affects your ability to run about with a wobbly weight on your thigh)


If it’s an emergency secondary for a problem with your primary then learn to maintain or get a reliable gun. You aren’t going to die from a misfire

A few posters have picked out the other use in Airsoft that if you are playing under rules with limitations on your primary such as a sniper with MED then a pistol as secondary has a purpose

Accuracy can be a thing, a little barrel doesn’t help accuracy, but there’s a bit of a mind trick to it. You might take yourself closer before shooting, but there is the natural ability to point - use a rifle and you need to aim taking into account parralex error, use a one handed pistol and it extends the natural ability to point with your brain aligning finger to where your eyes are looking

The real value of a pistol is fun. If you actually get to use it.
In a normal game it’s a disadvantage against other guns, but you may like the “challenge” and enjoy failing for the occasional victory


I enjoy playing with numerous different guns and numerous different play styles depending on mood
Big gun, pump, pistol, twin pistol etc

Can't recommend one enough just for the sheer giggle factor alone, dumps a full mag in 2 seconds if you want to keep heads down. Well worth grabbing one even if you don't keep it long.

A pistol can be just as accurate as a rifle in Airsoft tbf. Barrel length doesn't matter except for power, accuracy is determined by the hop up and the user.

That said I've had a few times where I was dug in on an objective in an uncomfortable way, and had to reload while lying down. Pistol comes in really handy for just keeping heads down as the VFC FNX is quite loud.

Also it's fun.
