Watches

No...

But it lies about your bank balance! ?
What a lovely watch. I must get one, how nice of it to lie and save me face.

But seriously, anyone who wants to know my bank balance can fuck right off, it's zero, if it wasn't zero I would be shopping for guns.
*Warning leftie comunistesque rant incoming* (Not directed at anyone here or else where)

I kinda want a fake rolex just so I can ward off snobby new money pricks, I mean seriously "oooh you bough a fake one because you're poor and can't afford the real one because your daddy wasn't cunty enough to fire 600 people to hit his 120 million target bonus "

I mean seriously, the fuck is that thinking anyway?

No I bought a fake watch because it was 50p at a jumble sale in 2008 and tells accurate time and because I like how it looks you middle class prick.

You know how swiss watches became so popular?  By faking British and french clocks, that's a bloody fact. I mean it wasn't any of todays "brands" but still.
I mean what kind of anal fucking dipshit do you have to be to be worried about what's on someone elses wrist?

Now disclaimer, I own one watch, it's a 1970s casino and it's fake and probably cost £3 new. I don't give a shit about watches, I've got my eye on some "Reginalds" on ebay that look alright and like they belong on pablo tescobag's wrist .

I have more taste than half these rich sign documents in gold sharpie cucks.

I mean there are lovely rich people, there are lovely inherited money who put it to good use for the benefit of their fellow citizens, there are self made men who have earned every penny. Lord Bird for example.

But none of those people give a flying pigs bollock about your watch.  The Queen doesn't care, Davie "pig fucker" Cameron doesn't care,  not even the arch-tory capatialistic-prick Jakey Reeee-MeowMeow cares, because fuck me they have taste.

Who cares: Donnie Dump, Maggie Thatcher, Jeff Pestos, people you wouldn't want to be in the same post-code as for fear of your property value plumeting.

Being a "your x didn't cost enough" is the financial equivalent of a fucking incel.

Is it sad to wear a fake watch? I guess so, it's even fucking sadder to care about it.
I feel better getting that off the chip in my shoulder.

I've been sitting on that for a while. Like I don't get it, it's like making a fuss over someone choosing sauce over sprinkles on their ice cream.  It's not your food, why would you care.

IDK man, maybe that only happens in ian flemming books. maybe that's a non issue, but the idea of it really gets my goat.

If your 'leftie comunistesque rant' was directed at my little joke, well I'm sorry as you have completely taken it the wrong way.

I couldn't give a flying f*ck what somebody puts on their wrist, whether its a Rolex Submariner or a little digital Casio. budget aside most watches are bought based on their aesthetics and that's obviously down to the buyer.

Personally for me I am more interested in horology, the history of these manufacturers and what goes into making a decent watch (regardless of cost small or large)

Fake watches do not keep decent time. They have some crappy quartz movement from china stuffed into an equally inferior case.

Unfortunately there is much division in the watch community, mainly due to closed mindedness, ignorance and vulgar petty bourgeois snobbery. However, there is one thing ALL watch fans agree on, from rookie hobbyist, aspiring collector such as myself to seasoned connoisseurs, and that is the unpleasant subject of fake replica watches

You don't buy a fake Rolex as a 'cheap' watch in order to tell the time, you just don't! The sort of person that buys these fake watches IMO is because they want to provoke a reaction or get comments about said watch, when it's a sham because it's fake.

If they really wanted a cheap watch watch in order to tell the time, there's a whole host of watches that can be had for under £50 from legitimate manufacturers that do the job without the 'fake' bit.

Sounds to me like anyone who gets upset seeing a fake Rolex or other stupidly expensive watch is annoyed because they've spent so much money on something that really doesn't reveal its worth.

If you're happy to fork out for a 'real' one then you shouldn't care what anyone else has.

This is turning into a hot subject :D

"Not directed at anyone here or else where" It was just a general thing mate, not getting at you.

but seriously when you start selling a £500 watch for £50,000 because you you've got a brand on it, that's bul. same with ferrais, and jaguars, and astons, great precision machines, not worth a 1/3 of the price, aston martin could sell a DB5 to everyone in the world and be the riches comapny ever, but they don't they sell 100 because they're "exclusive". And you know what, rolex make quite nice watches, I still ain't paying more than £20 for something that's handing of my wrist.

And absolutely fair, bad watch is a bad watch, but you get to a point when craftmanship and materials can only justify prices so far, I've never seen a fake watch other than the one I bought when I was 12, hell I've only had 2 actual watches.

But there are people who care and I HATE those people. Because they want people to spend the most amount of money on everything to show off. and jsut urgh.

It's not even a money thing it's a, social thing, it's sneering at someone for not having a tailor.

£50 for a wrist watch?  I wouldn't spend £15 on a watch unless it was gold or went in a pocket. He's the thing, There's the "watch community"  and then there's people who see a watch and buy a watch.
I mean you're welcome to spend your money on anything you want, you can collect, it's your life and your money, I got no problem with that.

But to me it's a kin to us bitching that a movie production bought a m4 with shitty string internals, it's not relevant.

@Vulpiness wind your neck in mate.

If you want to go off on a socio-economic rant, take it to Reddit or 4chan.
All right, all right, I'll batten it down.

My Daily Driver - GShock

Bit of a tank, keeps time (although I have it a tad fast) perfect for airsoft and general day to day

My 'Fancier' watch - Tissot Race

Needs a battery, not worn it in a year probably. Had it 12 years. Looks nice with a suit.

My other 'Watch' - Xiaomi mi band 3

Wear this every day, tracks everything. Its Chinese.

Most importantly, they are all waterproof.

If the battery in the Tissot has gone, get it removed . I'm a jeweller and I see so many batteries that have been left and have leaked causing all sorts of damage to the movement.
