Gav, did you read the same posts we did ?, he was an absolute vile dick, & so we're his pms to another member, as well as the libellous feedback he put on his profile.
As for "feeding frenzy" ?, I'd prefer to say it was the community coming together to protect its members from an ignorant egotistical bully.
It was at this point i had no choice but to either ban him, or nominate him to be a moderator

I might be in the wrong but yes I read the posts & it went down hill fast on the first page... 4 pages later he was banned.
I simply think it could have been resolved/ended before the the meltdown, I'm a thick skinned (it's not all fat) mature (in age) guy & I'm sure I'd have been on the defence too if I was the OP,

Those that have been here long enough will know my 'style' well enough by now, I just think it was unnecessary.

The moment the OP showed a weakness lots of you pounced, He/they/them whatever, did the right thing and asked for an appraisal & what they got was a foot up their arse as someone else went for the jugular. Their comments were imature but so was egging them on... I'm far from perfect & have crossed the line in the past & no doubt will again in the future but I sincerely hope there's a twinge of guilt felt by some of those who joined the feeding frenzy.

Playing devil's advocate is rooted in a potentially unpopular counterargument or counter-narrative that tests the validity of the original argument or narrative. The seller didn't get a foot up the arse.

The seller asked for an appraisal and got more than one appraisal with feedback on why the original pricing was considered too high. Under further scrutiny from listing it in "As New" condition, a conspicuous fault was called out and most would agree it would not line up to being described "as new". Some constructive criticism was even added about the importance of being completely transparent with the way you list items because of how Paypal can rule against you if you don't. The seller seemed to think that when he calls people names, they can't do it in return.

He had ample opportunity to swallow his pride but he chose to double down instead. There's being on the defence then there's threatening violence on people and making libellous claims people try to sell drugs in this forum.

Yeah, if my comment was indeed the trigger, I backed off immediately and stopped replying, he could have stopped there, and it would have been finished. I even said sorry to try and de-escalate it, but he didn't take it.

Guy was an absolute bellend who didn't like being told his listing was wrong so he chose to go on the attack, mostly directed at Punisher (bless him ) and continued his rambling until he was banned. Threatening anybody with physical violence because they pointed out a flaw in a listing is unexcusable in my opinion

You handled it better than I would have. You apologised when he started the name calling. You gave your own experience of being stung by Paypal over a discrepancy in an Ebay listing but instead he took umbrage with you reasonably saying you'd be pissed off if you received an item listed in "as new" condition when you'd paid for such a product only to receive one with so many scratches.
