The future of our hobby/sport... so called prank video

What percentage of the population are Airsofters who will stand up and make a defense of Airsoft if the Govt wants to ban?

What percentage of the population don't care?

What percentage of the population will watch a video like this and listen to calls for guns to be banned?

Rational defense and argument against the handgun ban after Dunblane had no effect, do you think a few Airsofters and Paintballers trying to justify and defend why they should keep their guns will have any effect if the Govt is persuaded to ban?

I tell you what, that guy in the vid has got some stones on him. Pretending to shoot people in south London after dark? Lucky he didn't get himself properly shot by an actual gangster!

Anyway, as I mentioned before we're more likely to see this video cause a shit storm about Call of Duty than about RIFs. The media is always looking for an excuse to have a go at video games. Most of the media wouldn't even know what airsoft was if it came round their house and flashbanged them.

Yeah Nick, I asked somebody on the yt comments if he thought it would be ok for me to charge at him with my plastic machete (if anyone remembers the pics I put up, it looks real enough that when brandished you'd not know it was plastic quickly enough to avoid brown trousers). He was implying it was ok because firing a paintball gun with no paintballs was like firing a toy gun which just made a noise - well that is rightly an offence too, if you do it in a threatening way.

I find it incredible that people can be so short sighted that they believe whatever anyone finds out afterwards makes a difference to the impact of a previous event. I mean forget the simple physics for a moment  how about if somebody threatens a person with a syringe full of what appears to be blood, but it later turns out to be a theatrical prop which couldn't even scratch you, let alone contain real blood? By the flawed logic the excuseniks are peddling, that would be alright too... cocks.
:o That was you!? :L

Shinobi both myself an Ian have been posting responses to people who think it is a great idea. Have also reported it to Youtube as illegal activity being glorified. If Ian doesn't get anywhere with the Police himself I know that UKAPU have been made aware of the situation.

I was on hold for so long earlier I began to worry about my minutes... back in person 2moz hopefully - it'll depend on mobility.

What I mean is that if I'm having to use a stick, I'm not going down to the centre of town.

Swoop. There was no rational defence after Dunblane. I'll tell you when the defence came about. It was after they were banned. And once they are banned, it is too late. These are the words from Sportsmans Association. Nobody believed it would really go through. They all sat on their arses and did nothing. There was no defence. Just like the ban on fullbore semi-automatic rifles in 88. This countries attitude stinks. When a threat comes through and it affects you negatively, you stand up and do something to help prevent that from happening. Just like they did in the Channel Islands.

I was in Jersey this summer (and very much looking forward to spending the majority of next year there!) shooting both Handguns and fullbore semi-automatic rifles. The reason they still have those disciplines legal, like the rest of Europe does is because when a threat comes in, they stand up and say no. Jersey has a population of 100,000 residents on the Island. 1/10 people own a gun. The Government over there announced because they had been banned over here. They were going to be banned in Jersey also. Thousands of people blocked the roads wanting to speak to the Government and it worked. Even though that leaves 9/10 people who don't own a gun, therefore it does not affect them and they do not care. These guy's obviously did and they spoke out. It worked.

As I said before. With all of these YouTube Channels bringing in Millions of viewer's... Several 100's of thousands of subscribers. If a petition was started in our defence. All you need is 100,000 signatures for it to be discussed by the Government. With all of this media coverage these Channels are getting, it can be easily reached. Organisations such as the Sportsmans Association have to deal with Anti's on a regular basis wanting to ban not only real guns, but also Paintball and Airsoft. They would support and I'm sure many other organisations would too. Retailer's who care more about the sport and our enjoyment than their own profit would do too... Those coming from abroad to play here. I'm sure many world wide will speak out saying they came to the U.K. for the Airsoft on an occasion and enjoy the top quality game play footage that can be seen online.

It has happened before. Several years ago now. In California they tried to pass a Bill 'SB798'. This would be bringing in a law stating that all Airsoft guns in California would have to be bright colour's 100%. Everybody would have to have those, no UKARA registered loophole like us or 51% two-tone etc... California is the main exporter of Airsoft guns in the states. Not only that, the sites in my opinion and many other's are incredible. I want to play there myself. If we had allowed to let this Bill to pass. It would have affected the Airsoft sales in the whole of America and for someone like me wanting to play in California. I would no longer want to go... People supported them world wide and that is how the Bill was beaten.

Simply sitting back and hoping it won't happen does not work as history proves. Whether we would win if we made a defence, we have no way of knowing right now. But history again does prove that if you atleast do something about it and make a defence, you can beat it, as has been done previously. Don't worry about what the rest of the nation thinks. Just focus on putting your opinions forward, what it is you want and protecting our sport.

Lift your bollocks up is the modern phrase now I believe...

Ian, liking that you are so committed to this, not the mobility thing, didn't realise your health can limit you so much. Hope the stick is a long way off!

Hope it never happens for you but should your mobility be limited further check out 0.45 on this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvT6fr_MykY vid (ignore the fact it is paintball!). I'm sure something along the lines could be cobbled together! The GERE's of WAR!

^^LOL, if that's what it takes, that's what it takes... I'll want those tri-wheel things rather than track-laying though. Oh yeah, and a mini-gun running off the submarine battery I'll have powering the bloody thing!

I already do have to use a stick fairly frequently. It's a ball ache, especially when I want to carry stuff. Things may be about to change though because I've been referred to pain specialists, so I may finally get some drugs which actually kill the pain and in small enough amounts that my liver doesn't ask for it's P45.

The commitment is enlightened self interest, Nick. People like that put our sport/hobby at risk. If nothing is done, later people could say "See? This happened and nobody could do anything. What we need is more law." The truth is that the VCRA has confused the issue - what he did is a crime under the Firearms Act and that is what I want to see the dick prosecuted under.
