Tactical Denim G3 Cut Trousers

Besides just rare and unusual airsoft gnus, how about some gear?

Does anyone remember these limited edition release of Crye Precision denim G3s?

They only ever made two of these sets, and you could win one as a prize at SHOT show in Vegas.

If there was a similar design (stonewash, not acid wash me thinks) actually commercially available, would there be any interest?

High quality reinforced kneepads, YKK zips, reinforced groin area, elasticated where it needs to be, and made from high quality cordura denim fabric

I'm not talking some cheap Chinese factory knockoff or questionable stuff made in Pakistan, they'd be made in the continent, developed to my specifications by a company that already supplies to several military organisations in Europe.

Price point is TBC, but what do you think is a reasonable figure?

Curious to get some feedback.

For what it's worth, I hate the shirt in the design, I'd prefer something like a G3 cut with just denim arms if anything.

I think theres a reason why they only ever made the two promo sets , double denim isn't a good look at the best of times.
I've got some decent 5.11 & helikon jeans, they have tacticool features while still maintaining a civvy look, much more versatile than what you're proposing

I'm not so much a fan of double denim either, but the top would look significantly better if the just the arms were denim, although in reality it's probably not something I'd look to pursue.

Versatile in a "I can wear them within an airsoft game and not look out of place in public too", undoubtedly.

But with Cordura fabric, integrated knee pads, a reinforced groin area etc, they're more akin to "Tactical trousers made of denim" as opposed to "jeans that blend in on the street but significantly tougher". I don't want to reinvent the wheel so to speak and make something that is directly the same as the 5.11 and Helikon products, although of course they have their own advantages with their own differences.

Ultimately the market might well be on the side that there's no need as people will just buy the other available products, I'm just curious as personally I think they're cool and could genuinely make them happen.

What kind of price ballpark would the trousers be? I like a pair of jeans (especially on big batty gyal) and I'd definitely rock some tacticool one's just for the comfort factor alone.

Obviously the cheaper they end up being, the better for everyone. I will still need to go through finalising samples yet but the final prices looks likely to be around £130 - £150 per pair, in that region.

I'd love to be able to do these for half that price, but given the work going into them and a very, very large MOQ for the specific Cordura fabric, it's simply not possible. I'm confident in saying from the basis of things, they will be worth it. What I don't want people to feel is as though everything is put together in an inferior way, and its just gimmick tax because it's a different fabric. I'd rather not do it at all in that case. It has to be as rugged and durable as material limitations possibly allow. Obviously using a blend of denim is not going to provide the same IR or fire retardant properties as other trousers, but that's a given.

Even then, at that price point, there would have to be a sizeable demand to make things go ahead.

As we all know in airsoft, everyone says they don't want another M4, someone makes something that isn't an M4, and it doesn't sell lol.

If you need someone to function test a prototype I'm a 31" waist I think the jeans would sell better than the top as not many people want a tactical Canadian tuxedo

I was always told to avoid denim for outdoor activities as it soaks up water like a sponge and has bugger all insulation and is generally uncomfortable when wet.

If these can be shown to perform better in bad weather then I can see a market, but tbh at the moment they don't appear to offer anything new so good luck with it but it's not for me

Yeah there's the natural limitations of denim as a garment suitable for demanding outdoor environments. I imagine, without having tested a sample yet, it will absorb slightly less than typical denim due to the addition of synthetic fibres in the blend to give it its durable properties.

You're of course correct in saying it will still perform worse than materials that have naturally superior water absorption qualities.

There's always the possibility of adding a PFAS-free durable water repellent, either added during the manufacturing process or adding into the "maintenance" of the trousers. In any case, it will obviously never match the properties of other materials, but it was never going to.

The aim is to make them as durable as realistically can be using Cordura denim materials and obviously the benefits of a G3 style cut, stretch areas, knee pads etc.

Roman has been doing Denim G3 trousers for a while that looked pretty good. The actual crye ones just look awful imo

I'd sell B2B etc if there was a demand for them, how I'd approach that market is another thing. If a contract was placed in this way, it would make achieving the MOQ easier and also help with pricing.

Yeah I imagine most jeans people wear similar to this are similar Helikon stuff that already exists. I know there's a number of products with this aesthetic out there and I don't want to make something that is the "same but different" even if they're worn in / used in the same environment, if that makes sense?

Yeah Romans work is top notch and I've seen his examples of denim stuff. I'm trying to make something more accessible that comes with a lower price with it being made in much larger quantities than Romans renowned custom work, without compromising on quality, as everyone expects with his workmanship.

I hate acid wash stuff I much prefer something like an indigo base with some fading in places
