I'm not sure if this is the correct area, but out of all of them it seemed like it might fit best; without just putting it in general.

Are there any sites that allow players to stay over the night before and then play the following day?
(Woodland and outdoors in particular; I'm too old, fat & slow for indoor CQB and it has no appeal to me).

I ask, as there's a dearth of enjoyable sites up my area (North East) and so I find myself travelling more and more in order to try out new sites; often plans are decided near last-minute, so getting a hotel nearby can be expensive, if there's even availability, and I don't want to do 4+ hours of travelling each way in one day.

Ones I'm aware of are No Man's Land near Barnsley, and Phoenix; in the midlands, both of which are of variable quality; so I'm looking even further afield to somewhere not quite London distance, but outside of that, if such a site exists.

Weekenders and such like will obviously exist, and might be doable with notice, but just a one day open game would be what I'm mainly looking ATM.

Do they exist or am I just out of luck?

Might be worth trying Battle Lakes for this. They offer free camping - not sure whether that’s the night before as well, but i suspect they can be flexible. Last time I went, there was a guy who had travelled from Derby, and I'm sure he didn't travel down before morning Chrono!

Edited to say, I've just spotted that you are in the north east... hmmm....

We at Gunman Battle Lakes offer free camping from friday 3pm :)

We have players coming from Aberdeen for our next event!

Edit : we also have actual toilets and a shower, which is a nice bonus.

Is this available for the night prior to a game?

Thanks everyone, this info is something I'll take onboard and think about for future travels!
Generally speaking yes, every site enables camping prior to an event, but do check with an email to us detaining site choice and date, and youll be put in touch /into a reply chain with the appropriate site manager.
Our email is [email protected]

Yes, on Saturday nights they did used to have movie nights, bbqs etc. It's a very social site like that. As I live locally, I don't stay often, so not sure what they're doing currently.

I think Gunman sites are great, I am not a member of Gunman but I have been airsofting for 14+ years and if I ranked every game/event ever attended, I am sure they'd rank on the higher end if every site/game etc was averaged. However there has been the odd howler of a day (as there has been the odd amazing day). Picking the right type (filmsim vs skirmish) is worth considering for you as well.
