Polarstar Fusion Engine + SR25

I dunno if many, or any of you will be able to help on this, but I thought I might as well start the quest for more information somewhere.

As some may know, I have a custom SR25 - Mine is modelled off the A&K URX version and as the more gun savvy of you will know, some SR25s use a long gearbox and standard hop, whilst others use a longer hop and standard gearbox. They have to use one of the two to get over the added length you get from using a 7.62mm receiver instead of a standard M4/16 type 5.56mm one.

So I have a few questions:

Forgetting the P* FE for a moment, would it be possible to fit a regular V2 and long hop/air nozzle to my SR25, bearing in mind it's built for a long g'box and regular hop?
In short, are the major internal components (hop and gearbox) from the two types of SR25 interchangeable?

Second question, is there a long style P* Fusion Engine on the market? Or is there ever likely to be one?

I'm pretty set on saving up and getting a Fusion Engine in my SR25 somehow, so I'm trying to figure out if getting a standard Version 2 style FE, a longer air nozzle and a longer hop, would work, or if it's going to have to use a specialised FE.

I've emailed The Grange about it this morning as well as asking via Facebook, so I'll see what comes from that, but I'll also probably stick something on Reddit, since most of them are yanks and will have wider access to P* stuff.

Anyone know anything?

p.s. I was thinking about putting a P* into a Socom Gear Barrett to make an awesome sniper rifle, the principle is great , making it work might be a bastard though.

Just done some digging. People seem to suggest that G&G hop units and nozzles will fit the A&K, and P* actually make a specialist nozzle to fit the G&G SR25, which means I ought to be able to get a regular V2 Fusion Engine, G&G hop, P* G&G SR25 nozzle, air tank, regulator, control unit and then it's just a case of experimenting with various hop combinations and getting a murderously expensive, epic tightbore.

Fusion Engines are £450, the control unit is £20, the air tank is £50, the nozzle and hop are both £30 each, the barrel will set me back around £100, experimenting with hops and nubs will be about £50 or so...

I'ma set a budget of £750, and I'm going to aim to have it done by around 2015 lol.

I've got an A&K SR25 too, and had the idea of using a normal V2 gearbox with the G&G hop unit; but when I tried it I couldn't get them to marry up properly.

*Theoretically* They should do, but in practice it's another story. :/

Damn, that's bad news for my plan... I'ma have to borrow a V2 g'box and see if I can get it to fit.

The Grange say they'll custom fit it for me either way, but I'd rather it just fit...

It'd probably fit with a bit filing/cutting. If you're interested in the hop unit to try it; I'd sell mine.

I will need to do that, I'll need a long hop and a longer air nozzle. P* sell air nozzles specific to their FEs, designed to work hand in hand with the G&G SR25 hop units.

So if I can get a standard M4 gearbox to work in conjunction with a G&G SR25 hop unit and air nozzle, then I'm onto a winner.

Well, I'm not, 'cos it's so expensive I'll have to live on the streets for a millenium, but it'll be worth it in the end lol.

You could always go for a Madbull CO2 aeg gearbox.

You could always go for a Madbull CO2 aeg gearbox.

A p*s trigger response is quicker than pretty much anything you can do with a traditional gearbox and endlessly more reliable. The tank and hose would be no less of a hindrance than a single point sling- heck, you could even attach it to a sling to keep them in the same place.

As for the madbull CO2 gearbox, it's madbull so it's probably not great and also they're not mentioned often- if they were worth it they probably would be, and they aren't as consistent.

P*s are so good a large number of US sites have imposed lower FPS limits on them and other penalties.

You refill the tank from diving cylinders, if you are doing it right really you would need 5 or 6, but seeing as paintball already runs HPA you might as well go to one of their sites for a fill from empty and have a single diving cylinder you can use to top up from.

About four of the guys on my team are thinking about getting P*s and it was the filling issue that was stopping us, but clubbing together to rent a cylinder for the day isn't that bad, £15 for a day from a local dive shop. Or buying a cylinder is the other option but at £170 then regular testing costs and filling charges that's probably not sensible. Would be better if more people were doing it and sites got behind HPA setups.

Filling the Air tank can be super cheap. My uncle has an old Soviet PCP air rifle,and he has a little pump for it. The pump can be attached to a scuba diving tank or a paintball air tank,which P*s use. PCP air rifle pumps are usually pretty cheap.

The P* engine is super reliable,very little moving parts and simple mechanisms,much less maintenance needed than a normal AEG.

Ed,you can also get Daytona gun kits for a little bit cheaper than P*s,but I don't know if they can fit SR25s.

a Daytona gun kit is basically a HPA powered GBB,with epic recoil and next to zero cooldown.

I think Daytonagun closed down in the last year at some point. But they can fit SR-25s as far as I know- there's a guy on a few other forums (arnies, zeroin etc) who has one in one- G&P I believe though it could be ares, one of those two though for sure.

Some other guy in the US is making some stuff based on DG kits,a company called OPForce or something.They seem a bit shady though.
