Piston Stuck to the rear

My V2 gear box is playing up, for some reason it seems to miss fire and the piston doesnt complete the cycle of going back to front. some times it stick a little to the rear and a couple of times it completely jams all the way back.

i have opened the gear bow twice after it has done this, i have been unable to hold the spring inplace as its fully compressed so it pings out but there doesnt seem to be any reason so it sticking?

only thing i can think of is the gears are slipping on the piston so it spins round and holds it due to the anti reversal latch.

i cant see what would cause this tho?

anyone had similar problems/ know of a solution.

Ok after inspecting it under a light the large bit at the rear of the piston has some how worn away, so yes i was right and it was the friggin piston, hmm can i get one in time for sunday??

Any recommendations for a good piston for a V2 gear box??

i got a 14 metal tooth SHS piston for an up coming build of mine (i did some research, they get recommended a bit, and i have not read anything too negative yet), looks really good, doesn't have full guides, and it has a few cut outs, will know more once i use it

Unless you're going for an obscenely high stress build, I'd always avoid metal tooth pistons, 'cos it's better to strip a piston, than to strip a piston and all your gears.

hmm well i got a new piston and piston head, it has a few metal teeth. its still locking back and i cant work out why?? any suggestions to test??

anything binding? all bushes ok and lubed?

what mods have you done recently? (if you have done any that is)

i didnt do anything, stuck a battery in it to give it a test and i could feel the motor trying to move but nothing happening, opened it up and the piston was stuck back. everything appears fine and i cant understand whats wrong.
