Is it illegal to own the Osprey mk 4 or is just illegal to own the bulletproof plates that come inside because I'm looking for one to go with my MTP loadout so if anyone knows where to get one please let me know.

Thanks

The covers are fine to own now but the ballistic plates are NOT.

Ah thank you have you any idea how much you would expect to pay for one and where you would get it.

You can get one with all the pouches and add ons and everything for about £100, or just a blank cover for as low as £40.

They're crazy cheap.

I've seen the full set only reach seventy odd quid on fleabay auctions in the last few months - they're getting common enough now that the high prices can no longer be expected as a matter of course. Fleabayfu in times like these important becomes, my young nicknackpaddywhack. The bid called goof must you seek...

Flecktarn does one for £49.50! You'll want to buy a cummerbund too though.

No pouches, but they're cheap enough.

Single mag pouches are a fiver each.

If you scout around ebay you could even pick up a new MK4a loads better.

As for the ballistic fillers, you can legally own the kevlar soft inserts but the hard inserts is a big NO, NO. even we have to hand them back in afer use.

If ya want some ammo pouches when you eventually get your vest let me know as I have quite a few double and single ones, that i just havent used as I have 6 doubles on my Osprey as it is!!!

I will also have a look around as i need to sort out my kit and may have some other pouches(drop me a PM anyway).

I'm pretty sure the soft armour is still illegal for civilians to own too, Mike.

I asked about it recently on a British Loadout related Facebook page and they're still not on the Surplus list according to a few of the gurus, including some who are still serving.

You can buy soft armour of the same rating and size, just not specific to the Osprey.

I sit corrected Ed, I even asked my QM, As i wasn't to sure and he told me you can.

Seems a bit hit and miss then.

I actually have a set that came with my Osprey and it was when I came to try and sell them that it transpired I might not even be meant to have them in the first place...

So I'd rather it be you who's right than them lol.
