Everyone loves the old last man standing games, but it always feels better playing for a goal. Capture the flag, vip escort and such.

What's everyones favorite scinario and why?

Personally I'm a fan of capture the flag as it allows for stealth play as well as all out assault, can get confusing if you don't know who has the flag though :l

Also, I've seen more and more sophisticated props like defusable time bombs appearing but never played with any. Do they really add much to games or just present confusion and complication?

Seem to be using lots of props at Alpha 55 lately, my favourite is a big red box of tricks which has to be carried into the enemy base (against a timer). It needs 2 people to carry it, and has toremain level while being carried or an alarm goes off giving away your position, plus it has then to be put on the ground until the alarm times out. If still alive you then pick it up and carry on . . . carriers can only use pistols too! So you need a good close protection squad! If you get pinned down then its almost impossible to beat the clock.

A very hard game but good fun!

 
We played capture the flag at my last game, we had to destroy 2 bridges first by planting pyro mines, the 1st bridge was easy but the 2nd was much harder, when we were defending the the flag, its very hard to get through the gate but can/was be done

Another game we played was enemy infiltration where we had to get into there territory, I love playing the "sneaky bastard" games

A lot of games are being played with props at my local sites which is excellent, I was the president in 1 game and our objectives were getting to 3 choppers with fuel drums

 
One of the simplest sets of props I have seen is wooden disks for mines and a broom handle with a larger wooden disk for a mine detector. It is usually used such that you have 2 designated engineers who are the only ones allowed to enter a minefield and they have to hold the mine detector over each mine for a certain number of seconds to clear the minefield. This presents a challenge as the engineers are stuck out front in the open and thus require lots of covering fire.

 
One place I played had tubs like the ones twiglets and cheeselets come in at Christmas, they were painted black on the bottom and gold around the top much like a Duracell battery, there were 4 hidden around the site, you needed all 4 to place in slots in a box which would then be linked to a pyro maroon and fired to signal the game end. Essentially it was a firing box and you needed the powersource to activate it. This was at a CQB site so fighting room to room to find all the bits.

Another was 3 steel vacuum flasks each with a biohazard sticker on the side and a black pelicase clone with foam lining. You first had to find the 3 containers of a biological agent. These had to go in the case, only one person could carry the case and while it was in hand they couldn't fire their weapon. The case carrier was also the only person who could handle the flasks. These then had to be taken to a location designated as the destruction point for the flasks. The opposition team was split into 3 groups, one for each flask, they could choose how many people they had for each one but they weren't allowed to guard more than one flask. The distribution of players was up to them so they could choose to defend only one really heavily, or they could spread their forces evenly. All defenders when hit fell back to the destruction point.

A CQB site had a large rugby tackle pad with 6 handle loops. So you carried it a bit like a stretcher. Minimum 4 players to carry but 6 were needed for longer distances. You couldn't shoot with it in hand, you carried it from location to location within the game area as radioed to one of the players in the team by a marshal. The rest of the team had to clear routes for those carrying the casualty. The stretcher was the regen for the defending team.

One has 20 memory sticks, cheap crappy or even freebies (could be keyrings or something else small, but depending on how you play it if they had access to a small laptop capable of downloading pictures/data they could contain data for extra objectives) these were hidden in various locations, you were given a series of photographs which gave clues to the locations of the mem sticks. These could be close ups of things like light switches or prominent trees.

A site has 2 overalls with the arms and legs sewn shut, and a stretcher, you carry the stretcher and find the downed airmen. Or in their case injured drivers of a landrover, you also had to find and destroy the landrover with a satchel charge, a huge maroon like a Mk9 or something.

 
Cool! I like all of these :D What site had the 'batteries' and bio-hazard canisters?

What was the time delay between putting the last one in and it going bang? Wouldn't want to be around (another) MK9 when it went off.

I think objectives with a time element make people braver, which is particularly good on days when there's a lot of hire gunners.

 
Arg, yea. Nothing worse than those corioor stale mates where no-one has the balls to push forward. Count down timers help a lot with that.

 
The best use of props so far has to go to MGC Gaol for there prop work at S.T.A.L.K.E.R Milsim

 
The Mall uses a few for some of their tactical games, laptop bags and ammo boxes. I tend to ignore the tactics and objectives there and concentrate on hunting the enemy as its what I prefer, However I think woodland skirmishes would be better suited for tactical objective games like this.

Bunker 51 uses hankerchiefs and a bucket of nuts and bolts for their props....... So much wasted potential...

Yup, and I've actually found that in those circumstances that pushing up makes for some of the best fun, people are so used to seeing enemies not move when they're pinned, that if you just go 'screw it' and go for it, it actually works well a lot of the time, because it is quite unexpected.

 
Need a time bomp prom that really shouts out the time left. Unreal tournement style. Or maybe Big speakers on giving out countdown timers :D

Not in the same game lol...

one of the games there are a blue and red hanky placed in doorways usually. The objective is to finish the time with your colour hanky on top of the enemies..

Sounds ok, but in reality you have 15 people bottlenecked in at doorways swapping the hankys over using the barrel of their guns or at worse pulling the cloths into their teams doorway more so there is no chance of it being swapped back.

Cant remember what the nuts and bolts are for. Think you have to take the nuts one at a time back to your base, but the site is so small the objectives are pretty pointless.

Epsom tunnels used flashing strobe lights, a little like the skips lights but in red as an objective last week, teams had to defend the lights and had to fall back to next objective when shot, attackers had to take strobes back to safe zone, game ended when all three strobes returned. Was very good fun.

 
I've had games where we play across the whole site and have 3 locations to capture in order. First a fort then a plane then another little village. In the plane you need to aquire the (broken) laptop or an ammo crate and then push to get then into the sheds at the village.

Also pyro I've used a rubber band gun in a skirmish before, believe I got 3 kills over the day. Was kinda fun running round with a 4ft sword and a rubber band gun

 
Bio Canisters was at EAG Dorking

The "batteries" and a larger box representing the generator were at the now closed Southwest Wargames just outside Plymouth, it's a shame they have closed as it was a really cracking little CQB site. It wasn't long, you could set up the maroon somewhere else like the opposition base, time was how ever long it took from game on to the destroy their base. If anyone can get their hands on a large ish warehouse it would be super easy to make up their setup. Simple 8x8 ft boxes with a pair of doors in opposite corners and windows with hinged closings on the opposite sides. Boxes could be moved with 3 or 4 people to new locations to make up almost infinite arangements of rooms/buildings/streets. There were permanent structures around the walls.

You can get circuit boards that can be programmed to operate with countdowns and will also include things like number pads to arm/disarm, online, some of them are really great looking when finished but the electronics and programming are beyond my capabilities.

^^^^ I always thought the superbowl site in Plympton would have made an ecellent cqb site. It has been empty for so long do you think they would take offers? ;-)

Shame they closed down?! Full auto CQB in a place the size of a shoebox where a 370fps AEG was allowed to play!

I'm not surprised it closed down, it was run by morons.
