Novritch anti fog.

I have had both the fan unit and the thermal for 5-6+ months now and wanted to share my thoughts,opions the good and the bad.

First, this wont cover the "value" of the product, that comes per-person as to how they perceive the product, are there better ones? maybe, are there cheaper ones? probably? But ordering the Novritch does give an "all in one" bundle especially of compatibility but ill cover that below.


First off, the fan unit.
This Is connected to Novritsch large googles

Pros.
- in hotter conditions (around 24-25C and dry heat, or humid conditions) I found the fan unit to be much better than their thermal unit, simply for moving hot air and moisture out of your googles if sealed, If open I think this is less of an issue

honestly, that's the only major pro, now the cons or minor cons.

- noise, it does have a fan noise hence the thermal unit if you don't mind this then overall its a fine unit and (see below) better at all tempatures/climates.
- tubing, the tubing is a pain, I routed mine under.through my help using Velcro PC cable ties and springs to stop the tube kinking (6mm outer diameter, 0.5mm wire diameter (ebay) (see picture)
also worth cutting to size so you don't end up with massive "dumbbo ears" of tubbing sticking out, this is a lot more work overall than the thermal unit.

you also need some sort of holder (NVG pouch works well) it does also need charging, but that's the same as the thermal unit, just not as versatile as its in the pack itself, a mobile battery bank works well if you're unsure how long it will last.

2nd, the thermal unit.
this is connected to the Novritsch low profile googles

pros
- No noise! silent unit.
- Easy to fit and run
- Low profile googles compared to large makes aiming easier and less "in the way" so to speak.

cons
- battery pack, its expensive and you can get cheaper hand warmer packs on amazon
- the insert is limited to its product size, and may require trial and error to fit different brands compared to the fan anti-fog.
- if connected to shooting glasses, or exposed a hit can break it and cause it to stop working completely
- if you're too sweaty your sweat will run down inside the sealed glasses and cause the lenses to smear, you wont fog up, but it will gear smeary, under 25c ish or not super humid conditions these work fine.

overall, I prefer the no noise of the thermal unit despite its flaws. I will be upgrading at some-point to some ballistic glasses (probably bloc 2s) and find an insert that hopefully fits, the reason being is the openness of the googles should stop the smearing from excessive sweat.

what have I tried? well Headband + bandana to soak up some sweat helped a bit, but I also played when it hit 33c and I still had smearing, under 25ish C, its crystal clear and fine.

I made no mention of attachment, that's because both units can work on either a boonie or helmet, you see both. My helmet just runs both systems so I can swap if needs be (but I stopped using the fan unit about 2months ago and have just gone thermal since then)

I use exfog myself with a Nov sniper Boonie with the Nov Antifog unit pouch on the back for the exfog.

Works perfectly I wear RX Prescription inserts so I have to have antifog as the lens on the RX inserts fog alot easier than the polycarb lens.

Oh the spring idea to help the kinks is a great idea, might have to try that. Mine doesn't kink often but sometimes it can because of the positioning of the tubing on my boonie

I did wonder about the thermal lens but I am not sure if it only fits the goggles he sells or if they will fit my Revision Spider wolfs.

Aliexpress unit is actually better. Novbitch battery is 50mAh smaller than Aliexpress.

I run the aliex one (I did buy both at the start, but sold the novbitch one on) after the exfog died to humidity, with thermal lens Revision Desert Locust - The Exfog would occasionally fog even with the thermal lens, but I do run really hot (I'm easy to find in heavy rain, as i'm literally steaming), the aliex doesn't have any fogging issues, even when I ran it on a 30 degree day with 90% humidity.

Those look interesting. Be very pricey for me tho as I would have to get the RX Inserts and Lenss too so that would probs add another £100 onto the total with the permanent antifog and anti glare coating. £180 is alot to drop when you can get similar results for alot less .

Might be tempted if I get annoyed with my current eye pro

Again, as i pointed out im not going to buy all combos of china, knock-off,copy or same manufacturing. Its Just a comparison of 2 of their products I have with the pro and cons i can see/have had using both and what i now use.

I did point out, other options can be had cheaper, but the issue is making sure it all works together. Novritch fixes that, its what i wanted i didnt want trial and error (hell doing the helmet tubing alone cost me a few hours) its worth the extra cost to me that it will at least all work together, its why I brought them. 15 years ago i went to maplins and brought all the bits to make fan googles (on some ESS goggles) this was way before anyone had produced anything, the pack sat to one side of the goggles and batteries etc were covered up by the google cover themselves. No on or off switch just a connector to a 4 pack AAA holder.

the thermal setup, was about 30-40mins setup, if that in comparison, very easy. Even easier if you get the insert pre-applied.

when searching for the bits to make another pair of googles, i stumbled upon ESS fan googles (at £150 or whatever they are) was like Fthat, (i miss maplins! RIP)
id actually brought a bunch of stuff i needed from amazon before i found the Novritch ones but it would save me so much time making my own, i got them instead.
I then swapped after i forgot how annoying the fan noise is (regardless of make/model)

Its why ive pushed back Bloc2s + thermal insert, its unknown and im know entirely sure about when the inserts are hit, as they can be slightly exposed with a system like that, on the full seal goggles there is more protection between the shock and insert. As the weather has been dipping ive found my thermal unit to be much better again so now im just using that.

One thing i didnt mention is the heat levels and the feeling, I normally run level 3 or 4 (out of a maximum of 4 levels) (im a sweaty boy) its noticeable but once you start playing it fine, you stop noticing it.
Level 3 or 4 still lasts me a whole day, but its down to 2 or 3 bars normally, I will buy a 5v hand warmer pack from amazong at somepoint to try it out, it looks basically the same for 1/4th the price. Mine is also kept on top of my helmet, it will take a BB at some point.

FWIW the AliExpress isn't a clone of the Novritsch, it is literally the shop Novritsch buys them from. It arrives with an the same accessories, is otherwise identical, and is just as easy to get started.

Novritsch doesn't actually manufacture anything, after all.

Read up on these more as i was kinda interested, but discovered a few things that I dislike.

• In order to "charge on the go" or use an external battery to keep it charged, you have to buy the Pro goggles (£112); the standard ones (£80) will stop working if you plug in a battery or charge cable. I get why, but kind of lame you can't just plug a cheap external battery in to keep the standard one going if it starts to go flat. That seems to be the ONLY benefit from the pro version other than a carry case, and a spare smoked lens. The battery isn't even larger. Normally my Exfog lasts a full day and then some, but what happens to these Raider goggles when the battery starts to degrade, and it loses its capacity?
  
  
• For players like me who have to use RX inserts or OTT goggles due to having shit eyes, these are insanely expensive. Goggles: £80 (£112 for Pro) RX Inserts, Lenses, with the Permanent Antifog and Antiglare coating are: £110 (That's just for clear lenses, no tinting etc) I am assuming you can buy the inserts and get them glazed separately, but the goggle listing states they MUST have the perma anti-fog coating or they won't work. So all in: £200 (£222 Pro)for the lot.

I guess for people who don't have to wear RX inserts, they are likely fine, but damn, they're expensive for us poor-sighted players
