Need Help

Shortening the outer barrel will be an issue then. You'll need to shorten or replace the inner barrel with one of suitable length, then replace the cylinder to match the barrel.

How much of the barrel length do you want to remove?
as close as possible like in this picture

im pretty sure the inner barrel can be changed but if not then yh id have to get that cut down the same length too

Have you chopped the end off it yet? 👀
Unfortunately, without a replacement barrel from the same AEG, or being able to use a different AK outer barrel, it's not something I'm willing to risk. If I messed it up, because I don't have the skill or equipment, I'd be down £400 and left with a useless AEG that I'd probably end up throwing away.

On the positive side, I found someone on Facebook who's willing to take on the job. Since it's essentially a one shot job, he's currently practising before working on the AEG itself, as he has the proper equipment and skills to do it correctly.

Have you seen any examples of their work? Going by some of the advice I've seen from so called techs on faceache I wouldn't trust them with a roll of duct tape

No, he’s just offering standard machining services. He has never worked on an airsoft replica before, but he said he’s practising first on some tubes to get it right before working on the replica, which gives me some confidence. I’ve explained everything I want to him and he’s agreed. He’s quite literally my only hope right now to get the replica looking how i dream it

A Dremel costs less than a tech
Well actually, considering I’d have to get a Dremel and possibly bits for it, the 14x1 CCW thread, and the other equipment for crowning the inner barrel and the tool to use the thread, it would end up being the same price or even more expensive. It also definitely wouldn’t be done properly if I did it myself, and it would be 10x more effort since I’d be doing everything by hand. The person is charging £50 + the thread needed since he doesnt have it, and the thread costs around £8–£10, so it’s not too bad and he has a lathe and proper tools just needed the 14mm ccw thread it self

If he needs to practice that job it sounds like he hasn't got the skills. 😂
