My stock has become VERY loose and I have managed to work out it is the threads on whatever the hell the tock screw threads into have stripped almost completely.

Would I be right in thinking the thing it screws into is the back of the spring guide in the gearbox?

If yes, good

If not, where does it connect?

cheers

I don't know what it goes into, I'm sure someone else will though.

However, how can you be sure it is the thread or what it's going into? If you don't have a brand new screw to compare to it could also be that. If you have something that is of the correct size then you should try that first imo just to see. Don't use anything else if it is a different size (be careful of metric/imperial).

You could always get some strong thread locker and stick that all over it and hope for the best

thread on screw isn't stripped.

wobbles when on the end of the other thread, but doesn't when I remove the black back plate of the M4 to tighten it down further.

thus:

End of thread has been stripped

Yer it screws into the back of the gearbox where the spring guide is
