Good afternoon everyone,

I've just picked up a Tokyo Marui MP7A1 GBB along with six magazines.

Until now I've always run a battle belt with my magazines down my left-hand side, but after handling the MP7 mags it's obvious that carrying five spare gas magazines on a belt isn't going to be particularly comfortable or practical. I do have a harness on the belt but its more about being able to get my arm around to draw mags and put them in etc.

I'm looking for a lightweight chest rig rather than a plate carrier. I don't wear armour for airsoft as I prefer to stay as light and agile as possible. Ideally I'm looking to keep the cost sensible (certainly nowhere near £200).

I've spent quite a bit of time researching a few options, but I'm struggling to find anyone specifically using them with TM MP7 gas magazines.

1. Novritsch Modular Chest Rig (Yes I know)

I've generally found Novritsch clothing and gear to be decent quality. I run a full Kreuzotter loadout because I like the camo and it's a much more affordable alternative to Pencott Greenzone.

My main question is whether the Novritsch SMG inserts actually retain TM MP7 gas magazines securely without relying on the elastic retention straps. If anyone runs this setup I'd love to hear your experience.

2. Helikon-Tex Training Mini Rig (£90-£100+)

This is another rig I'm considering. Again, I'm struggling to find anyone using it with MP7 gas mags. Which inserts or pouches are people using, and how secure are they? It also works out a fair bit more expensive than the Novritsch setup once you've added the extra pouches. A huge downside is the camos on these will not match my other gear which is mostly Kreuzotter

3. Blue Force Gear

I've heard nothing but good things about these, but they seem almost impossible to find in stock. I can find the 4x MP7 MOLLE pouches, but they're around £50 just for the pouches.

Does anyone here regularly run a GBB MP7? If so, what chest rig and pouches are you using? I'm carrying six magazines in total (one in the gun, five spare might end up being more lol), so I'd really appreciate any recommendations before I spend the money.

Thanks!

If you've already got magazine pouches then something like a tactical tailor mini-mav might be an easy and cheap way in.
I've used the Unobtanium Gear sleds (with an MP5) and quite like them. Good for retention, etc. Mine is just a placard for PC, but they also do harnesses so you can run it as a lightweight setup, or they do one with slightly fewer mags (4) but a couple of extra side pouches. Cost probably around £110, but then you have shipping, etc, so... - They do distinguish between different mag types too (presumably some extra width in the MP7/ump).
Some tweaking of whatever setup may be required to find the balance between giving you enough room to wear belt kit as well and not punch yourself in the face with a smg magazine every time you draw.

I recently got an mp7 (still to field it)
But last year I got a chest rig to make summer games a bit more tolerable
I got this, a clone of the Haley strategic from Ali Exp
Very comfortable with the ability to add wings for an extra mag or radio pouch.
You can change the inserts to accept different sized mags, so a 4 slot for my mp7 mags is on the cards

I'll second the D3CRM clone; it's great. I've got one along with the various inserts and it's such a great rig. The main downside of it is that it's not really customisable outside of the inserts. That said, you can double stack the inserts if you really want to, and there are expansion wings and a dangler that allow you to largely increase the capacity of what you can carry but in my opinion it starts to defeat the strength of a micro rig the more you add to it.

If you want something a bit more customisable, the Spiritus Systems micro fight rig is another option. Similar philosophy to the D3CRM, but instead of a pre-set placard, it's got a molle front but still with the inserts and expansion options using things like... the Thing, and dangler pouch

I tend to use the D3CRM over my SS micro fight rig, but I'm a sniper not an SMG user, and I have a clone SS 34 Alpha rig which is fantastic for sniping and already fills my "fully customisable carry everything" rig, so the D3CRM is a better simple micro rig that I can throw on for when I play urban or just need a smaller rig.
