I'll take fuddy but accurate over the nonsense reviews you get elsewhere. I remember years ago AI magazine reviewed an AK which didn't work but they still claimed it was the dog's bollocks

I find he misses an awful lot IMO and don't find him particularly accurate. Especially when he'll make 40 minute rants about it and say anyone who disagrees is a window licker.

I get that it's a character he's playing but I'm just not about it tbh.

I believe he was a forum member before the great reset; I am not sure if he is now.

He did a video years ago about the Ares L1A1, of which I have two, one for use and one as a potential source of parts (I got it very cheaply). While I would never argue that it is the best designed and constructed AEG ever, in my opinion it is nowhere near as bad as he made it out to be in that video.

Did I have to do more to it to get it running as I like compared to other AEGs? Probably. Does that make it a steaming pile of shit? No.

Can you change the spring without removing the gearbox from the receiver? Yes; you undo a couple of screws and lift the rear trunnion/sight block out of the way.

Do you have to be super careful when separating the receiver in case you break the nozzle? No.
