It comes with mags and a plate but he's mislaid the drum, I'd like to give him the option but mags will suffice if I don't get a drum.

Is the proposition that you've got him an MP5 and you're weighing up having load-carriage with spare mags vs purely 1 drum mag in the gun and no rig of any kind? If so honestly wouldn't recommend the drum. The weight that people notice most is the weight their arms are having to support all day. A very compact rig with some plastic mid-caps for an SMG weighs genuinely naff all and the mags will probably be cheaper, certainly easier to find than a reliable drum, with more chances of working properly and if one doesn't work you just swap mags, whereas you're stuffed if the drum gives out.
I just give my mates hicaps and a bag of BBs when they are trying airsoft out for the first time. By far the simplest solution, and whilst lower in capacity, I've not had any dramas with MP5 hicaps.

So today was the big day and it couldn't have been better,I ended up getting an MTW( deal I couldn't miss) and GS#3 played with that.At first he was suprised by the vest weight but happy with the gun. He had a stonking day and did he listen to my tactics,,nah..light the fuse and release. Great welcome from the site and other players. He single shot most of the day using roughly the same amount of bbs as me,which suprised me when you see all the new players full autoing blades of grass. His only single question was can he use mesh because he fogged the DYE's. The MTW does look big on him so I may swap to a heretic and his older brother who played previously has decided he wants to come again. So it'll work out sort of ok if I buy a Heretic...now where did I put that gold stash of mine, you never know what's around the corner. Thanks for all the advice.
