jobs

I work as an NHS IT Service Desk Contractor, which is handy to spend on my guns :D

Engineer.

Which is the worst job for an airsofter because you are permanently in the what can I f*ck with now mode. Endless tinkering, improving and more often than not breaking its like your always at work. ☺

IT Infrastructure Designer/Architect

Got bored of doing the hands on techie stuff years ago but there's no way I'm willing to take a massive pay cut to change career. Do occasionally contemplate whoring myself to the industry and becoming a contractor though.
im known as a mercenary to the permies....contract draughsman! (ltd compnay so have my own business)....so basically draw or model in 3d the structure for buildings for people, good rate/hr, can be boring though, London pays stupid rates but im not back there yet, so when i do i guess my budget will change slightly.....

Thought I'd revive this as it's an interesting read.

I work for American Express in Global Supply Management, so procurement basically. Not a bad job though :)

Various services with third parties such as consultancy, catering, property, software, all sorts really.

no, we manage the third parties ourselves after we've contracted with them.

I basically negotiate the contract, terms, service and price etc on behalf of whatever Amex business unit want to engage with the vendor. From there they work with them inline with the contract.

I'm just about to start a college course in renewable energy engineering. Basically learning how to maintain and fix wind farms. I'm quietly crapping myself as its a massive change from where I am right now - working in a call centre dealing with business renewals and sales.

Cool.

We do automation software for renewables. Mostly Biogas stuff at the minute but we can do the SCADA stuff for wind farms. Our panel builders make a lot of hardware for wind generation plant.

Work for BT Unified trading in global banking and financial markets, although just applied for a post in UBS :)

Nice, just starting to use some 10GB Nexus infrastructure that our lead network guy put in before he left. Job is half done and WAN link sucks! Need some proper investment but all 6 senior IT managers don't actually get "IT".

Currently on my holidays from the Games Development course; doesnt pay a dime, but gets me the skills necessary to join that type of career in future(Hopefully).

Right now, im an on-hire worker for my dad who loans me out whenever necessary on small jobs that need doing. So far, i've dug up 2 gardens, and one's payed me £120 on a £30 p/d wage :) Gonna be all gone when college comes back round!

10GB in a Yacht! that's just so Russian :-)

I'm migrating around 500 VM's at the moment, SFP cables a godsend, 2 of them replaces 8 old cat5 cables in my ESXi servers. Got 40 ESXi servers still to re-rack and cable. Do you want a Saturday job? :-)
