For the love of sweet baby Aslan, What's with some of the pictures and content on some of the ads in Classifieds?!?

Scenario 1: Low Detail/High price
Seller wants top dollar for an allegedly "mint, never skirmished" gun.
Follows singular pic of (usually dark coloured) RIF in poor lighting showing zero detail of condition/wear, and about seven words providing pretty much no detail at all.

Scenario 2: Ozzy rules.
Picture/s all fekkin upside down or sideways 😭

Scenario 3: The Holy trifecta
Top price, lowest detail, single pic taken in the dark on a Motorola Razr flip phone from about 2004.

Yes, I'm newish to the forum.
No, I have no evidence of doing any better myself, yet.
Yes, I have the ability to tilt my head/device.
And also yes, I do know I could ask for more or better pics and to include more detail.

I'm sure FB Marketplace has ruined Sales etiquette. Whenever I sell gear, things, stuff I always want to show it in its best state and offer up everything I'd be waiting to know if I was the potential buyer.

Maybe I'm just too old/neuro atypical 🤣

End of rant. Thanks for the space to vent 😁

mate, you'd be surprised. im a motorcycle sales exec and the state in which people bring their bikes in for us to buy and appraise is genuinely crazy. 0 etiquette.

I am looking for a new car right now and some of the private seller images on AutoTrader are hilarious. One of the ones I've seen looks like its driven into a river and covered in muck lol.

I have mates in the trade and some of the stories 🤢
Selling vehicles privately is something I usually rock at, as I'm a bit OCD, actually enjoy detailing, maintain regardless and take pride in my ride, but I've taken on a few challenges I've regretted 🤣

Some of the rotters buyers have offered up in PX (that's never offered/actively expressed as not of interest on the ad 🤦🏽‍♂️) are unbelievable.

Just to note that the sideways/upside pictures is a bug with how the forum processes images, some people try to fix it by rotating etc but some cba lol
Ah ok, I've had this on forums before, but usually post>edit>rotate as a last resort, but would always just pinch/rotate on device and crop as prep.

Yeah, I know, I have issues 🤣

I was 20yrs in the motor trade
I’ve got some proper stories , and seen some absolute horrors too!
Looking back, it was a hard hard graft but to banter and the friends I made whilst in it are priceless.

But yes, I agree
Some of the recent listings here could be made 100% better if the seller just bothered to turn an extra light on! 😁

Or no time stamps, "fully upgraded" and no mention of parts or brands... Sometimes I wonder if they purposely upload with no details just to have human connection for a few minutes 🤔
And "fully upgraded to my spec and I'll just assume everyone values my upgrades and therefore want 100% return on them"

And "Leaks / doesn't cycle/ other fundamental definition of borked, but probably an easy fix" Then friggin fix it! Oh no, that's right, it's obviously not just in need of an oring because you've already tried and probably stripped some threads, and you're just trying to get retail/used value for your boneyard POS.

Turns out I have a lot of pent up rage for a Monday morning

We already have thread for this :
MODS : perhaps you could combine them?
Not sure we do, cos I searched first 😁

Mack's thread is explicitly phrased around pricing in post #1.

So if I get a choice, I'd rather this thread stood alone, thanks 🙏🏽

I'm not talking about ridiculous prices, it's the effort, poor pics, crap descriptions mad general half-arsedness of some ads.

Well you could argue, and I will ( I like ea good argument, lol ) that poor pics, crap descriptions and half - arsedness are all symptoms of dreaming if you think your gonna sell.

Also combining means that, not adding to combining, So thread covers all similar bases, with possible title re naming. Just a thought in the name of keeping for tidy.

Ones a rant over laziness, ones a place to laugh at overpriced listings and bring awareness to things being overpriced. Definitely not the same thing in my opinion 🤷‍♂️

I do get your point, I'm just literal, and Mack's thread was all based on bonkers pricing of things, not the ads themselves.

Pretty sure there's been examples of crap photos and ads with bugger all info in mack's before.

I just don't get the laziness of not bothering to include as much info as possible. Simply put the more I have to go looking for information the more likely I am to say fuck it and go elsewhere.

As for photos I don't expect the seller to be the next David Bailey but how hard is it to make sure it's in focus and lit by more than a tea light candle 50 yards away.

One other thing I forgot to mention that concerns me with listings is how messy the background is. Like damn, clean up before you take photos of what you're trying to sell 😂
Especially if that background includes bed linen which looks like it's owned by a 14 year old who's just discovered pornhub
