Hello, I wanted to show you a project I’ve just finished in the workshop. I've seen plenty of the standard plastic cases around, but since I’m into 40k, I wanted to build a proper Imperial Guard style crate for my own gear.
It’s solid wood with a crimson and black interior. Instead of the usual foam, I’ve gone for a modular setup using laser-cut panels with slots for Velcro straps. The boards are held in by some 3D printed corner blocks and thumb screws.
The boards are completely removable and have lateral adjustment. I can swap from this shotgun/pistol setup to an MP5 or rifle layout just by dropping in different boards or adjusting the Velcro strap locations. Once strapped in there is no movement at all from the RIFs.
What do you guys think? Is a modular board a decent alternative to foam, or is the weight of wood a deal breaker for most? Any suggestions for a V2 version?
