CQB Loadout

Me and my friend are thinking about starting to go to CQB, something a little different from woodland. However, putting together a load out and so far I have this (5min photoshop):

Bit of a dodgy PMC load out I think but I like it.

Wondering if I need anything else for the load out. Also, wondering what colour it should be, currently it's coyote brown but open for changes.

I'd go for FG or OD for the rig colour, and I'd have a black/navy blue softshell/UBACS/Combat jacket with it.

As for the rest; no problemo, however carrying a shotty around on your back will be annoying (especially if you don't actually use it in the middle of a game)

I doubt I will have a shotty on my back, just a little joke with my dad because he thought it would be cool if I pulled it out mid game in slow mo' firing off all guns at once

Just wondering, why would you suggest a softshell/combat jacket with it? I'd imagine it getting very hot with it on

Lose the hydration carrier, you won't be out long enough in CQB to need 2-3 litres of water! Pistol is a good call, but possibly avoid the drop leg, move it up to your hip and you'll be much more comfortable (I also find it to be a much more 'natural' draw).

Chest rig makes a lot of sense, but no requirement for molle on your back unless you want to carry grenades/mags for other people.

The thing to think about with CQB is how quickly can you move, a lot of it is all about being able to be further forward than your opponent thinks you should be. The faster you can move the better and carrying lots of gear and/or restrictive drop leg pouches and plate carriers gets in the way of that. Really, if you want to be competitive and effective in airsoft CQB you need a short primary gun; M4 CQB/MP5/MP7/Kriss Vector/etc, an easily accessed pistol (on your hip, makes moving easier!) and a moderate amount of ammunition. Pyro helps too, but it can get expensive. With that list of requirements in mind all you really NEED is a primary with a hi-cap (300 BBs should do ANYONE for any game in a semi only CQB environment) and a pistol within easy reach. Of course hi-caps are a drag and everyone wants to run mid caps for less noise and winding... so a compact chest rig fits perfectly.

Essentially what I'm saying is drop the plate carrier style for CQB, it looks cool but it weighs you down and doesn't actually provide you with any utility!

Drop the plate carrier and potentially just go for a molle belt instead as with short CQB bursts, you won't need a whole load of mags. CQB is one of my main play-styles now and I rarely carry more than 4 mid-caps + 2 pistol spare mags. So, on my belt, you'll find - 4 mag pouches, 2 pistol pouches, dump pouch, small utility pouch and a gren pouch. This is backed up by a pistol on the hip for easy/quick access.

As already pointed out by cheese, pyro's are essential in CQB so take that into account when creating a load-out. I personally just rock around with an impact BFG and have the reloading down to a tee mid-game

It won't be perfect the first time you play with it, so just adjust as you play to make it easier.

What you have posted looks fine to me. I agree that a chest rig would be better than a full PC.

Unfortunately, as I'm under 18, I cant use pyros so I'm not fussed about pyro space at the mo.

I've always considered drop leg holsters to be easier for me, but I like the cross draw style idea.

I have a pet hate for chest rigs (probably because of how my friend used to wear his) but the PC I was looking at doesn't actually have any plates or anything in it.

So it's technically a MOLLE assault vest.

I may lose the hydration pouch then, and I am already moving the shotty scabbard

To be honest if you're going to loose the hydro pack and shotgun scabbard, then you'll only have the three mag pouches left. Have you thought of looking at a low profile drop leg carrier for them?

My CQB rig went from a chest rig to one of these: http://www.ebairsoft.com/cordura-mini-modular-drop-panel-khaki-p-2846.html with a triple Kangaroo pouch mounted on it (that's 3 M4 mags and 3 pistol mags). Mount that on your left hip, and a pistol in a Serpa or similar on your right hip (assuming you are right handed!). Easy access to all you need without having to wear a whole chest rig/PC set up.

Then for clothing I'd suggest something with integrated knee pads for comfort and protection while sliding on concrete, plus an UBACS or long sleeved t-shirt for comfort and weight. No need for a soft shell if you are playing indoors - could get sweaty A lightweight micro fleece if it's a bit cold, but that's about it. You soon warm up running around.

I know someone who carries a shotgun on their back in one of those scabbards and its fine, I often carry mine on my back using some improved weapon catches, they're absolutely fine to carry like that

There's nothing more badass than going all black, and if your doing CQB at night it'll give you an edge in darker areas.

I think I'm going to go with some sort of assault vest for my load out. I want something a bit different from a waist or drop leg platform.

If you're going to be carrying STANAG mags, a US LBV is perfect for CQB as it's super light and only £19-20 delivered on Amazon in Woodland, Black, ACU, Tan, or OD.

I find my drop leg holster really handy too, but I've added webbing leg & crotch straps (so the extra leg strap doesn't slip down) to stop it jiggling against the elastic straps it came with. It doesn't move on my leg at all now and doesn't restrict my movement in any way. It's just as well that I feel comfortable with my body though, particularly endowment, because it does add more definition to my package...

Actually it is - I just have to hitch my knackers over to the left before I tighten the strap to make sure they don't get crushed! After that they drop back into position just fine
