cheaters (rant)

so.....Just playing devils advacat here, the same shots hitting/ missing people can look different from a different veiw point i.e. a couple of months ago I was shooting at some bloke and the bbs were going in every which way but on target. I could clearly see this. My pal was less than 6 feet from me and was convinced that they were all on target and got a bit stroppy about it. Its just one of those things.

Half the time people think they are hitting someone they really are not. See it all the time.

This I agree with 100%, I have stopped claiming to have hit someone and then not taking it because of this. Felt like a right twit. Others complain for me now.

this happens an awful lot that is true. which is why i rarely get annoyed about it because it doesn't bother me unless i'm 100% sure.

today i was sure on every occasion because it was close enough to watch the bb's actually bounce off them.

I personally agree that a Marshall shouldn’t say this, but I can understand why they do, if you told someone to do something and then they constantly did something else, you’d go about it another way.

Exactly, If they are consistantly ignoring what marshals are asking them to do then alternative action needs to be taken, but the alternative action is to escort them from the field for the rest of that game or day, and/or to ask them not to come back again, not to turn a blind eye to the sort of thing you are advocating players do.  A marshal ignoring a player taking things into their own hands is as bad as one that ignores the cheating in the first place as far as I can see.  No place for Marshals like that in the game.

For the record, if you're aiming at my torso and missing, please feel free to rage-fire at my head and miss by even more.

I'm cuddly. If you're missing my torso, you're exceptionally inept and should probably quit playing!

I’ve only ever really had two bad experiences at my local site. It’s usually great week in, week out.

One was overkilling speedsofters and the other was a Teflon youtuber. Hit him about 3 times with some tracers at maybe 6 meters, watched them bounce off him.. He then took a step to the side to hide behind the wall of the tent he was in, only to magically renter the game 20 seconds later and shoot me. He didn’t get mediced back in as he was the only one on his team in that area of the game site.

Up there with non hit takers for me are 2 other types.

The ghosts who insist on taking the hit (well played) then giving a full on description of exactly where you are. Usually accompanied with some gestures and frantic pointing.I am waiting for the day the guy hands his mate a Polaroid photo to boot.

But more annoying than that. Snipers who can't guesstimate 20-25 meters. You want to use that single action high power rifle fine, but learn to judge distances and stop shooting people in the face under your MED. Had a prime example of it yesterday with a guy who couldn't have been more than 10-15 meters from me, took his shot straight to the lower chin, which drew a few choice words along with a fair amount of blood and a stare that would have made medusa blush.

I know there are some fantastic snipers with good skill and who regularly switch to a side arm just in case the player is in MED and all credit to them. But to those that cant judge the distance or just wont. Stop telling your girl that's 6 inches. Is aint.

Rant mode DISENGAGED.

I marshall sometimes. A few times people wave me down, point to a guy and tell me that he is not taking his hits.

Not much I can do. I look for a while and see nothing special happening. Then I try to remember the guy and check on him later. I can't decide after the incident happens if he didn't take his hits or the shooter just thought he hits the target. I have never been able to catch someone cheating as a marshall. I could point out a few times that the shooter didn't have the range, BBs were falling short.

As a player, most of the times I see someone not taking his hits, I go and play on an other part of the site and grunt about it for a while. Sometimes the cheater does win some headshots just for good measure. He screws up many other player's day so he is a bad person :) and if you don't want to get headshots wear full protection or don't play airsoft. Part of the game.

I don't mind headshots and know a lot of the time its all i offer as a target aside from a shoulder or foot. But yeah shooting with a sniper well under MED. Thats a gear grinder for sure,

Test shots?  Maybe not so practical outdoors, but I've had a few playing CQB.  It's fully warned about in the briefings, not that it stopped one comrade in arms from going off on one about a bleeping marshal shooting him in the bleeping back, what the bleeping bleep was that all about.

Test shot, mate.

Yeah, but why the bleeping bleep did he bleeping shoot me when I wasn't doing anything wrong.

Test shot, mate, just to see if you're taking hits. Maybe had a report about someone dressed like you, might not even have been you, don't take it so persona-

But, but, the bleeping bleeper bleeping bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

Honestly, I wonder if there should be a short multiple choice test required before playing.

Strange I should wake up to find this thread, last night I had a dream my sniper rifle was finally working, and I went to an Airsoft game and whenever someone didn’t call their hits I sent them a .40 right on the nose

I like sites that do the test shots.

If its gotten to a point where somebody calls an admin over to check if you're calling your hits then you can be sure something is suspect. I don't understand how somebody could be upset over that. It's 30 seconds of inconvenience to prove you're a legit player. Get on with your day already.

If I was helping out for a day I'd carry a MK23 around and shoot the suspect from a couple metres away. Don't call your hit? Get your ass to the safe zone and miss out a round.

This is how we handle things, the player who is tested is never asked to go back to respawn and just carries on after being told it was a test shot. 99% of people are happy with it and get the reasons why...

I do like the idea of test shots, but damn can they be annoying. The only few times I've been on the receiving end was at a woodland site, and I've been test-shotted while defending, lying down at the base of a tree picking off attackers. Marshal's shot me the back, I've called it and stood up, he's told me to play on, and I've laid back down again. But in standing up I've already revealed my position, and in those 10-15 seconds the other team has moved across the area I was holding them off on. So a few seconds later I'm out anyway. Both times this happened.

Nothing can be done about it I suppose. Just kind of annoying in those circumstances.

From when I've had to do it I only test shot people when they aren't in an area where its going to be detrimental to their day. If they are defending something or in a position where they are doing well that's when it comes down to keeping a keen eye on them. There a time and a place for it and it should only be done when its not going to be affecting the game play. The situation you describe should have just been dealt with differently IMO
