As a new player, since December, how do I deal with cheaters?

Keep firing until they start bitching about the pain. Preferably while aiming for exposed/less protected parts (including the face, if necessary).
That simple.

Oh and get very close to them before doing the above.

That video is probably the most uncomfortable watching experience I've ever had with a piece of airsoft related media. Just awful.

Great example of how to nice, chill people off the game and up the chances of people arriving to games with a combative attitude.

Man this thread is making me very thankful for my local site. In most instances hit calling is very good.

As others have said this comes down to marshalling. Like any sport if the referee isn't doing their job it turns to shit. It sounds like your site marshals just aren't doing the job, there might be a bunch of reasons why but it's moot at the end of the day.

I will say as it sounds like you're relatively new, check that your gun is actually accurate to the ranges you're shooting at. Many people eyeball the BBs going straight out to 30-40m and assume they keep going straight. Often, they hit a point where they just drop, or fly up to the moon, or do all sorts of squirrelly stuff. This is doubly so if you aren't holding your gun straight, as any tilt imparts left or right spin.

If you're making snapshots at close range, it's also much more likely than you'd think that you whiff the shots, especially if you're used to walking BBs onto a target and haven't got your sights zeroed.

Last note, the guys with £700 GBBs haven't got God weapons. They're expensive because of mechanical parts and other aspects of the design, but they're measurably worse than most AEGs unless they're very carefully tuned.

D Definitely check out a new site though. I'd have quit the hobby if my local was like this.

Problem with this advice is only valid if you are sure you are hit them in the 1st place. If you light up some one who's only crime is to not be in the right position for you to hit them , you are the dick in this situation. If you believe some one is not taking there hits, change position move closer, go for short bursts. If you are sure you are hitting them get a good description and report them. If staff do nothing play some where else. Taking action against perceived cheaters can have as negative effects as cheating! As the person who has been over shot is going to let be known and soon the other team thinks you are the over shooting dick who needs to be taken out 1st.

Back in my marshalling days, I frequently dealt with allegations of non hit taking. Probably about 60% of them were spurious, so lighting people up is not a great response.

Marshall more than I play these days. I find accusations of cheating are far more of an issue than actual cheating. One person complaining can poison a team so soon enough everyone thinks no one is taking hits.Seen good game days turn to miserable agro days.

Indeed. That was was why we always responded to allegations and, where they were incorrect, explained it to the complainant.

While you've been given lots of good advice, try other sites, shoot until they take it etc. all of which is valid to a degree.

Id also encourage you don't let it get to you and always approach it with the best attitude and expectations possible.

GIve the benefit of the doubt, accept even if you did hit them, it might have hit a pouch or the adrenaline etc meant it wasn't reacted to in the time you could see them. Be the best example of an airsofter possible, when hit shout things like "cracking shot!" Etc. everyone who has played has not taken hits, they've hit pouches, running around while weak shots come in etc. at the very least something has obscured their view of you before you've been able to react, leading them to assume you're cheating

Every time I hear about poor hit taking, it always seems to get worse, only positivity about sportsmanship, great play, great hit taking and the power of embracing the game has ever turned it around on the day.

Also, make sure your kit is in order. I had it at my last game, I popped a corner, shot at 2 guys and only 1 took it (cue the "wtf you cheating cu*t" look at him)....at my respawn I realised my gun wasn't firing due to a jammed BB in the mag. Never happened before and I run a gun that stops firing with an empty mag(not a gbbr) so when it fires, it fires. I've done over 5000bbs and not had a single jam in this gun so for it to happen then, in that scenario was....annoying.

I've also had my rif just seemingly power down during the day, 1.1 joule at the start of the day, 0.6 at the end and all during it I thought people weren't taking their hits....worst day ever for cheating etc. Actually, I either wasn't hitting them or the shots were so weak they couldn't have been felt.

Fundamentally it happens, intentional or not and it's something that happens in this imperfect game based on honesty. Yes, do what you can to minimise it, attend good sites, be a beacon of a good airsofter, have yourself and gear in order. If you can't deal with that, I'd suggest switching hobbies.

I successfully stalked a whole squad of US players one 'Nam game in Kent. I chugged a load of BBs from the RPK and every single one hit about half a dozen players in the large pack that sits low on the rear of their webbing. They all turned around and most hit me. I just took the hits. Chatting afterwards we had a laugh about it, but genuinely not one of them felt a thing.

We've all seen BBs falling almost straight down and not actually reaching someone. Conversely, I fired two three shot bursts at a mate in very thick cover and he had six welts on his chest afterwards. How every BB threaded its way through cover is a mystery but it does happen.

The ballistics of a 6mm piece of plastic are so shit that weird things happen. First stage is ask yourself if non-hit taking is actually happening, and then ask the marshals to check. Cheat calling or hosing people from the off can ruin a game just as quickly as non-hit taking can.

As others say. If the marshals are shite go elsewhere. I drive passed two airsoft sites to get to the one that I like to play at. For full weekend games I'll drive passed dozens. It's worth it.

Apologies for vanishing.

I’ve decided to treat Airsoft like every aspect is fun, and play for fun not to win. It’s my time to chill with my son and laugh. If people don’t take hits, whatever.

The "I must of hit them in the Armour" mindset increased my enjoyment of playing war and yomping around in kit 10 fold. Then I got all zen and come to the conclusion, its not important if people take their hits from me it only matters that I take my hits from them. Not going to work for everyone but did the trick for me and cheaters no longer spoil my play time.

Man, same. I used to be one of those who would get really annoyed they wouldn’t call it so I’d end up wasting a mag on them. Later on in life I realised that it’s not worth the BB’s or the aggro. If somebody doesn’t call a hit, I simply move on to the next target.
