I've just bought a 1080p sports camera off ebay for £50 and was wondering what point of view people prefer to watch airsoft vidoes from so I can mount it accordingly. I was thinking either at the very back of my gun on a 45 degree offset rail so that you can see the entire gun + scope or on my shoulder ( havnt actually bought a helmet yet) so that you can see my POV as opposed to the guns.

I prefer on helmet. That we we can see what you're looking at rather than where the gun is pointing since the gun is going to move around a lot more and your video will look like Cloverfield.

The back of the gun idea is a pretty cool one, but gun cam footage can end up being 90% looking at people's feet, the floor, and walls.

So headcam is the most popular, either front centre or off to one side, depending on the camera's design and mounting options.

There's also 3rd person rigs that I've seen a few people make, where you use PVC piping to construct an arm for the camera to sit on, that puts it about a foot behind and to one side of your head, giving you a sort of "Ghost Recon" vibe. Which is all well and good, but you can get spotted because of it, bash it against things and have your movement limited by the mount.

You're pretty much stuck with whatever the camera suits the best. I have mine on my helmet or my head because it just works out best that way.

head mount, tilted so you can see where your shots are going, have a look at AirsoftEd's youtube channel for a great example of how it should be done.

putting it on your gun will get you a lot of footage of the ground!

Try getting a second camera and attach it just behind your scope. And then when you edit your video you can switch between cameras and show people how you pwn on the field.

100% helmet mounted, gun cams spend most of their time pointed at the floor

Helmet mount.

Gun mounts are cool, but its best used with another camera so you can just edit to the gun cam for shots/kills etc.

On yer head son! :)

When I get mine i'll rock it on an NVG mount. That way it always tends to be filming something decent, instead of the floor :L

Head it is then :) See if I can pick up a cheap helmet anywhere because otherwise im gonna have to strap it directly to my head :P . Also I did like the two camera idea, but I dont really wana spend too much on airsoft for a while. I have to limit myself, otherwise ill end up with no money at the end of the month for other things. Like food.

just make sure you edit vids rather than posting 90% no action.... far better to post a 5min vid of all action than an hour of nothing! :-) I vote the 2 cam option too, poss 3, one on ya head, another down the sights and the third at the end of the barrel pointing back at you!
