AEG's with sniper scopes?

some aeg's get converted for the dmr role normally converted to semi only and higher fps ( hence longer ranges) than standard aeg's and the rifle scopes add to the look

If you shoot far enough why not.

Not used to the full potential but they can work and can look pretty good.

This is airsoft though so most people would probably be better of with an acog or similar.

They are good for spotting in woodland games. Even if you can't hit them, it can make it easier to see what team they are on!

the problem with spotting with scopes is you get "trapped in the scope" where you use your scope to scan and spot and you end up looking for everything through it and then you start missing things you see.

not true if used properly, i.e scan with the naked eye and use the scope to get a more detailed image of what u think may be an enemy player etc.

but if you "hardscope" (showing my cod days lol) then yeh i can see your point josh

yeh i agree if you wake a rifle scope on a aeg and try and use it like a sniper rifle your gunna get butchered but if you use it properly in a designated marksman role then you can beast the enemy even with only an extra 10m range

They are like Porches, some people need an "ego" extender, some are very happy with a metro....

Indeed. I remember my L129A1 project gun... I added a sunshade to my scope = 3 more inches on my ego! ;)

Although, my pet hate is seeing an M4 with a rifle scope on it and it's not semi-locked.

Especially on carbine M4s... just looks stupid! haha

I have recently gotten SO into EOTechs. So much more airsoft-able!

yeh i hate it when you see someone with a stock cm16 with a huge rifle scope and a bipod on it

NO. NOT THE BIPOD!!!! THEY SAID THEY'D SPARE THE BIPODS!

Only;

-LMGs

-Snipers/DMRs

...Are allowed to have them. If your "gun is heavy" go lift some weights ;) hahaha!

Grip-pods make sense, that's why we issue them on the L85 and they're effective. You shoot more accurately with the weapon supported, that's just a fact, I can tell you that from shooting '85s in various configurations down the range and comparing my groupings (DD Rail with grip-pod, rail with no grip-pod, plastic handguard, irons, SUSAT, LDS, etc).

"But that's RS" And what do a lot of airsofters get in to airsoft for? They like imitating the RS because not everyone joins the military/this is Britain and we have stupid laws about civilian firearms ownership.

The second you ask "what's the point?" of anything in airsoft in a fashion which is derogatory towards the user of the equipment item, you've missed the point of airsoft entirely and need to take a step back, rethink and reassess your mindset.

Don't diss grip-pods!

My L85 wouldn't look anything like as cool without a grip pod.

im not dissing anyone who decides to use a grip pod and yes i know they work extremely well, its a personel thing that i just dont like them.

at the end of the day if people wanna spray there aeg lambo green with pink spots then thats fine by me as its there aeg doesnt mean i have to like it or keep quite about thinking its just plain ugly.

anyways i think we got side tracked from the original thread subject whats your view on aegs with rifle scopes?

That wasn't all aimed at you specifically I was speaking in general to 'the reader' as it were. I didn't point that out though, my mistake there.

All I can say is that I find magnified optics incredibly useful, night-on indispensable. Going more than about 4x magnification on an AEG which probably only shoots ~35m or so is perhaps a bit excessive, but obviously it's the users' choice end of the day, I can understand why they might find it handy. My only suggestion would be to purchase a short-dot type adjustable mag optic rather than a full on snipers' type scope, because the short-dots actually get a lot more RS use on carbines and standard rifles, so they look a lot better and therefore 'fit' aesthetically. These have got some good reviews:

Put that on a replica LaRue SPR mount, good-to-go.
