So... Hi! . I have been a long time lurker on the forums and a big time Airsoft fan but i never had the money or time.... UNTILL NOW! .

I mainly got this due to its high praise as a good entry level gun, and i would love to hear your guys opinion on my purchase too.

Im going down a mix mainly Flecktarn camo and vests but with British tags and patches. I know weird mix right?. But im a fan of the german camo and i think its most probably the best disruptive camo for the eyes.

okok, onto the questions.

1. The battery that comes with the gun is a 8.4v; could someone give a estimate of how long this would last ingame? because i have yet to even play a match yet.

2. I heard alot of comments and videos saying not to use the charger that comes with the gun. Why is this? as i cannot afford a "smart charger" atm due to all the other stuff i need for airsofting atm.

3.I bought 2x 470 round mags for my new gun with .20g pellets. What would be your take on these lasting the round(s) if i switched from semi to auto in burst fires?.

4.I paid for the two tone option to be painted onto the gun due to UKARA and all, but after i have gotten said licence. Would it then be easy to paint over the gun in such a way to remove the toning?.



Sorry if this is annoying anyone and i didnt mean to intrude at all. but i need to know this stuff if i want to...how you say. Become well knowledgeable at the game.

1) no idea, it dosn't say the battery's capacity, and even then there are alot of factors to consider, auto/semi use, temperature etc etc

2) they are normally slow to charge and low quality (it is a "budget" gun after all)

3) pellets? you mean bb's? they are hi cap mags by the sounds of it, and unless you spray continually you should be fine.

4) should be although its not a licence, its a "defense"

1. should be fine, althou they tend to go a bit low towards the end

of the day, I usually bring at least two batteries, just in case.

2. should also be fine, a lot of snobbery going on. faster charge is worse

for the battery. the only thing is that you have to calculate how long

the battery needs to be charged and only charge it for that exact amount

of time.

3. I usually go semi, I currently run

one hicap (400rnds?) and a backup short hicap (200rnds?) never ran out

in the middle of a fight. Just have a bottle laying around, if you'd

finish one mag, pour new bbs into it at the next opportunity.

4. I'd say, make sure its painted and not moulded. paint over moulded

rarely looks good, but if its painted you can just sand the paint away

when you have got UKARA.

as for camo, few things are 'weird' in airsoft, and you're not annoying anyone.

Welcome to the forums lad, and welcome to the sport.

As mentioned above the Voltage of a battery will dictate how fast the guns rate of fire will be, the mAh number will dictate how long you can expect the battery to last (colder the day, the less you will get from your battery, its a chemical thing)

Chargers arnt really an issue, its only i find when you get lipos that you want a decent charger. but for most battery, so long as it charges the damn thing I dont care.

The mags will do you fine, although the constant rattle from the mags might get on your nerves (They did me) and if you play semi/burst you might find you dont use all your rounds. But it is generally a nice idea to have a bottle on hand in a day sack or something.

And as for camo, cant really screw it up. Its a case of what ever you think looks good and what ever is comfortable for you.

and FYI, it is never an annoyance for people to ask a question as the majority of the forum will agree, its better you ask the stupid questions now than when you are half way in a game.

ah the infamous hi-cap-rattle. talked about everywhere, I dont find it an issue, try for yourself first and if you cant stand it get mids. I hardly ever go full auto (as a matter in fact, part of my justification of switching to hicap, due to constant admin reloads I never ran out of ammo in low/mids), but its nice not to have to carry 10+ mags like I used to.

They have a good reputation. Not necessarily true of all JG guns by any means, but their G36C gets recommended regularly.

Flecktarn is great for British woodlands. Who cares what insignia you wear? If you want to wear an authentic uniform, go ahead. If you want to wear Ill Gear Zombie patches, go ahead. I've got OD curved shoulder titles with black lettering saying CHAIRBORNE on my DPM shirt, a Secret Squirrel, miniature Skull & Crossbones, a subdued Skill At Arms crossed rifles in the wrong place, and a 16th Air Assault Brigade - 13th Air Assault Sp Regt RLC TRF stitched on turned through 90°. I've just bought a pair of red rose pins to wear as collar tabs too (I'm from Lancashire originally). I've had a few smiles about the titles and an offer to buy the Air Assault TRF... seriously, wear whatever makes you happy

That battery pack will be an 1100mAh of the cheapest type going. I don't know if it's that the power rating is wrong or that the way semi auto and short bursts use that power doesn't suit the battery technology, but believe me they are sh!t. I've run one from fully charged to flat in around 35 minutes of hard skirmishing before. If you buy a Vapex (VP) 1600mAh 8.4V battery pack, it will last you all day usually, but if it runs out in the afternoon of a day that you find yourself firing a lot, you can try to get it on somebody's fast charger while you use the one you have, or use the crap one gently for the remainder of the day.

I used one of those simple chargers for 9 months without any problems. I used the AF-UK App (Tab at the top of the page) to calculate how long to charge them for and set an alarm in my phone for a while, then I bought a timer plug for about £3.

2 hi-caps should be fine for most "rounds". If you stick to semi-auto you will get through most scenarios without having to change mags, but there are times when you either have to suppress the opposition by firing a lot of BB's at their cover, or you just want to "get your gun off" as Ethan Hawk would have it

I tend to carry a fair bit of kit, "battle-rattle", so loose BB's in hi-caps don't make much difference when it comes to moving quietly - basically I can't, but then again I find it very hard to do anyway, because my feet, legs and back are in constant pain. What bugs me about hi-caps is the winding they need to keep the BB's ready to fire. Mid-caps are the way forward...

Apparently Fairy Powerspray will take the paint off. As two-zero said though, if it's coloured plastic rather than a brightly painted black gun, they never look good painted over - they get scratched through use very quickly and the bright colour shows through.

You're not annoying me If you don't know something and are not sure where to find out, it's often easiest to ask here. Somebody will either know or can point you in the right direction. That's what I do anyway :blink:

I have a opinion on the hit problem. Anyone who cheats or skips the rules should be thrown off the camp without a refund.

^^When you've been playing a while you'll realise that it's not quite that simple. Just last Sunday I got hit on my hat. I didn't actually notice immediately at the time, it was somebody by my side looking at me that made me think, "Whaaa...?" and running through my memory of the last few moments I realised that I had felt something. Trouble is I had been getting hit by ricochets from the same direction earlier, so I assume that's why I unconsciously ignored it. Naturally I stuck a hand out from behind cover and shouted, "Hit!"

I've shot people whom I'm pretty sure wouldn't deliberately cheat and seen the BB's bounce off them, but they didn't take it. I think that they must be so hopped up on adrenaline that they didn't feel it. I dunno if I've done that also, but I wouldn't be surprised, especially if I was wearing an assault vest so the hit wouldn't have stung at all. It's easy if you get a single shot to your vest, because even if you don't feel it, you'll hear it. But when you're mostly hidden behind hard cover, there's foliage all around you too, and several people are firing at you full-auto, how do you tell what sound was a hit on your Camelbak that was sticking out, or a mag pouch, or any of the twigs and branches rattling around you and leaves flying off etc.?

That's why a marshal's word is law. If they tell you you're hit, you're hit, end of. They may be mistaken, but unless you are 100% certain they are mistaken, they have probably seen something you didn't notice. Another time on Sunday a marshal called me out from a BFG. I know full well that I was behind hard cover: I saw the thing land and stepped into an entrance far enough that when it went off i couldn't see it, ipso facto no direct line from it to me. i took it anyway. No point in arguing - these things are bound to average out in the long run.

Another thing to consider is how much fun would it be to visit a site that had draconian rules in place? You'll discover that a common incident is for a BB to strike somewhere around your front sight. What if a marshal thinks it hit your hand? What if the ricochet hits your face but the marshal only sees the BB bounce off your goggles? it's courtesy to shout, "Gun hit!" at my home site, but I don't always remember and neither does everybody else. I definitely wouldn't reveal my position if someone was just 'spraying and praying' and happened to hit my gun even though s/he couldn't see me. I don't want to be hyper vigilant to any possible suspicion of a hit so i can shout it before I get turfed off! Do you?

I'm pretty certain that I take the vast majority of my hits and 100% certain I take all of them that i know are hits. I feel that my honour is intact and I'm sure someone would have a quiet word if that wasn't the consensus amongst the people I skirmish with. That's good enough for me and I hope the people i skirmish with feel the same way. On the occasions where i'm sure i did hit someone but they didn't take it, I have a quiet word on the way back to the safe zone. I don't like it when somebody tells me they think they hit me and I didn't take it, but I prefer to know than have people talk about me behind my back. I assume the people i have a word with feel pretty similar.

Repeated, obvious, downright cheating is something else entirely...

No, you don't need a sidearm. The only times I generally use my pistol is if my AEG packs up or i run out of ammo for it. I sometimes pull it to run* in close, but that's really just for the cool factor, which if truth be known is probably non existent outside my imagination :lol:

You'd be better off spending the money on your AEG; upgrade to a Tight Bore Inner Barrel, maybe a better hop unit and/or rubber, maybe a bunch of mid-cap mags

Plenty of guides on you tube mate. No I don't think you can get a purpose made blowback mod for a JG G36. Get used to your gun and how it works first. If you think of your first AEG as a learning platform, you won't be so pissed off when your tinkering with it eventually fcuks it up :lol: There's a whole load more learning in fixing it again Then, when you know what you're doing, you can think about more serious mods.

Ordered a Smart charger . But i have a question about them if anyone can get to me on that.

ok so the question at hand is: how many charges does the batteries take before they completely die and are not reusable?.

definitely no need for a sidearm. they are fun, very few practical uses. mostly they will be gas driven (for the fun factor), and hence less reliable than your aeg.

As for upgrades, in my opinion, you might as well wait, you haven't even played one game yet! Maybe you will realise that g36 is not your style, or that you want one upgrade more than another one. Just make sure the store downgrade it for you, sucks when you want to skirmish but the chrono says 370^^

usually batteries say 500+ charges? not sure thou, think its age aswell.
