SRC SR1911

Hey everyone, I need some advanced tech help with a brand new SRC SR1911 (Green Gas). It completely refuses to fire or release any gas when fully assembled. I have systematically gone through the standard troubleshooting steps with a helper, and we have definitively debunked all the usual culprits.
Here is the exact state of the gun and everything we have proven so far:

1. The Lower Frame is 100% Functional

• The Test: With the slide completely off the gun, inserting a gassed magazine and tripping the sear works flawlessly.
• The Result: The valve knocker cleanly snaps forward, locks forward via the valve lock pin, and dumps gas perfectly 100% of the time. The grip safety and thumb safety operate exactly as intended. Pushing the disconnector disables the hammer drop properly.

2. No Magazine Alignment or Gas Lock Issues

• Mag Height/Position: Shifting, pushing up, or physically pulling down on the magazine with the slide off makes no difference—the valve knocker has plenty of reach and activates the valve regardless of position.
• Gas Pressure: It is not an over-pressure / light-strike issue; the hammer spring has plenty of force to crack the valve under normal pressure.

3. The Isolated Variable: The Hop-Up Unit

• The Big Breakthrough: If I strip the slide completely (removing the outer barrel, inner barrel, and hop-up assembly) and put the empty slide shell + Blowback Unit (BBU) back on the frame, the gun fires and vents gas perfectly.
• The Conclusion: The failure to fire only triggers when the hop-up unit/barrel assembly is installed in the slide and pinned to the frame via the slide stop.

We are at a complete loss of ideas for what is causing the issue, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

If its brand new, take it back to the shop?

As above. If it's new and under warranty then the shop have an obligation to give you replacement or refund. Fixing it yourself will only invalidate said warranty, probably cost you more and leave you with a very expensive paper weight if your fix doesn't work.

I never understand why so many airsofters are happy to accept broken or sub standard parts when they don't need to

Not just that if you tinker around with it and replace parts etc, you will likely void any chance of a return. I'd just return it and get a replacement if possible could be a QC issue, or it was a "returned new" (we all know a certain shop that I will not name P****L B**E that likes to send out used items as new ones so i guess other do too)

Hey everyone, just updating this thread with our latest diagnostic findings.
To quickly address the previous replies: the warranty has expired, so taking it back to the shop is not an option. I am fixing this myself, so please keep the suggestions focused on tech advice.
We have tested the gun and isolated when the failure occurs. Here are the facts:

• The Slide Stop Variable: The gun fires and vents gas perfectly if the slide stop pin is removed entirely. It also fires fine if the pin is put through the frame but the actual stopping bar is left hanging down freely. The moment the slide stop bar is correctly installed, the gas fails to release.
• The Frame Variable: With the slide completely off the gun, inserting a gassed magazine and tripping the sear manually works perfectly 100% of the time. The valve knocker cleanly snaps forward and locks forward via the valve lock pin. Forcing the slide stop bar down into its resting position on the bare frame does not stop the valve knocker from working properly.
• The Magazine Variable: Shifting, pushing up, or pulling down on the magazine makes no difference to the valve knocker's reach or function. It is also not a gas over-pressure or light-strike issue.
• The Slide Shell Variable: If I strip the slide completely, removing the outer barrel, inner barrel, and hop-up assembly, and put just the empty slide shell + Blowback Unit (BBU) back on the frame with the slide stop fully installed and locked, the gun fires and vents gas perfectly.
• The Current State: The failure to fire only triggers when the hop-up unit/barrel assembly is inside the slide and the slide stop pin is fully installed and locked flush. Furthermore, the behavior is erratic; after cycling the slide, it occasionally switches between working and not working even with the pin hanging loose.

We are presenting just the findings here because we don't want to make assumptions about what the core issue is. Given these exact interactions, what should we look at next?

Is there any contact between the slide stop pin and the outer barrel or hop unit potentially pushing things slightly out of place?
