ICS L85 refresh

I bought my ICS L85 second hand and am really enjoying using it. No idea how old it is so I’ve decided to take it apart, give it a clean and upgrade some parts while I’m at it.


There’s a number of threads on here and Reddit with good advice but I do have a couple of questions.
I’ve found a couple of shims in the gearbox, is there a good video or thread on how to shim this particular gearbox? Never done one before.
Anyone know what motor this is? I’d like to get a new one/upgrade.

Things I’m buying
Prometheus 455 barrel
Prometheus Purple bucking and nub
Maple Leaf M100 spring

The air seal looks to be really good so other than clean and grease I’m not planning on changing anything.
I don’t want to go nuts as I’m still using 9.6v Nimh batteries and shooting .25. (Compatibility with other guns)

Any thoughts welcome.

Incase anyone’s interested, after the above upgrades and adding a ICS infinite motor, I’m getting 1.12j with the hop up set and using 0.25.
The gun is also quieter and feels snappier.

I’m pretty happy with that…
