The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread

Played the Apocalypse Eclipse vs Pantheon battlesim on Saturday, game started at 10am and finished at 10pm for a full 12 hours of airsoft fun. This was my first force on force Battlesim having only joined the role-play style games before.

The sim followed on from the last DEA vs Cartel role-play sim where the DEA had won and now the cartel had employed a PMC contractor to go into the jungle and kick the DEA out. I played on the PMC team as I was cartel in the last game and couldn't bring myself to join the DEA.

There were 35/40 players per team and each team was divided into 6/7 squads, each squad had 1 sniper, 1 LMG and the rest were riflemen, there were ammo limits around 50 for a sniper, 350 for a rifleman and 1 box mag for the LMG. each player could also carry a pistol with 2 mags and a concealed carry weapon along with as many melee weapons and pyro as you could carry.

I carried my trusty LCT PRK16, WE Sig 226, my recently acquired TM curve tucked into my plate carrier, painted machete from the last battle sim along side a couple of knifes and pockets full of bangs and smokes. A heavy load out which I will be feeling in the shoulders for a few days.

Game play was good with lots of small missions, mostly finding objects hidden on the map (bags of flour or cash), intercepting NPC's with intel building to a final objective of using the intel gathered to find a bomb maker, give him the code to activate the bomb and get him to the other teams base and blow it up. Bonus points were awarded if you captured the enemy's flag from their FOB or captured their leader.

Apocalypse is a great site for this kind of event, its big and has plenty of spots to play objectives around village, no mans and stockade. It also lots of space to hide a FOB or plan ambushes. I play here most weeks and found a couple of new areas I hadn't been to before.

Really enjoyed the game play and 99% of players were above board and played fairly, there was 1 DMR player on the DEA team who just spammed his trigger at anything that moved and ignored the ammo limits and MED, he was asked to leave and not return to site again. As darkness fell a young lad got the jump on me and kindly asked if I wanted to surrender or be shot in the back of the head, I took him up on his very kind offer and surrendered.

As dusk came the numbers started to dwindle and I think we were down to around 10/15 on each side by 9pm. I called it and left at around 9:30 as it was winding down.

Waiting for the after action report but the PMC team won, we captured the DEA flag, we collected most of the hidden objects and had the bomb maker but couldn't get into the enemy base at the end.

As usual I packed way to much kit and came home with most of my bangs and smokes and couple of KG of unspent ammo, as there are less players on field and game play is more sneaky I need to remember you don't burn through as much as a skirmish day.

I really enjoyed myself, great day had by most if not all.

Played at Dragons Lair in North Stifford/Chafford hundred area (Essex) yesterday
Was a really nice day for it , dry not windy and some sun but not too hot
Mixed players some regulars / experienced, quite a few rental/newer players
Site is leaning more to CQB now but you can still play some small woodland
Atmosphere quite chill and relaxed, not the place to play if you are a hardcore serious player
had a good time, bit sore now havent played in months lol

@Baser We were told yesterday to watch out for IED's left over from saturday :)
Sounds like you guys had a good day of it :)

They say 'Third times a charm', here's hoping so coz tomorrow is the 3rd time I've booked a gameday in about 6 weeks & I had to miss the first 2 due to work.

Batteries on a charge & gas ready to go.

Dunno what I'll use yet but taking my aeg AUG H-bar, PTS Masada & VFC M27ish gbbr.
Good luck; hopefully, you get to play and it is a good day.

Well, F*%k me... a frosty day so I left the vfc mags at home, the Aug H-bar was too spicy & the midcaps I use decided they weren't going to work properly in the Masada so a pissed off me took the Aug to the range and emptied those mags then I drove home (didn't even get the first game finished), I reckon it was just midcap syndrome but despite a sight tech offering me the use of some hicaps he had spare, I wasn't in the right mood to stay.
Doesn't help that my feet were cold & my fat belly was cold too.

Learnings from today are... wear more layers (it is Scotland after all), stick to a rif that works as it should & dump any midcaps I have.

Serves you right for bullying me and my M16! Colin's next

Following last week's debacle at Splatoon, the only redeeming point of which was the saga of Austeyr's M16 😉, today was spent at Airsoft Plantation, where I was hoping for a better day's play, this time alongside my friend Gary, who was bringing along his new M14 and UTR to set up.

Despite a very poor weather forecast, the site was well attended, but not over crowded.

Having participated in the usual morning rituals (breakfast, cup of tea, safety brief, sacrifice of the youngest player) we set off for the first game, for which we were the attackers.

Starting at the end of the firebreak, our task was to get a bomb to each of the five vehicles in the village; we had infinite regens on the firebreak while the defenders had two lives. Our bombers, who were the only people who could move the bombs, were part of a very brightly dressed stag group, who made rather obvious targets. A group of us set out through the woods at the farthest end of the village, slowly fighting our way forward and frequently going back to regen. However, we played our part in whittling down the defenders and eventually, after a long fight, the fifth and final bomb was planted. One of the highlights of the game for me was watching the Pope get shot.

When the game was turned around after a break to reload, a few of us set up in the woods to delay the enemy's approach from that direction; they put in a strong attack in that area and inevitably, after sending a few of them back to regen, I was hit and fell back into the main part of the village. We put up another strong defence there and I was hit again just as the game ended with the attackers planting their third bomb, which they did in a time that was two minutes faster than ours. Boo!

After another break, we embarked on our next adventure; starting at Swaziland, the attackers had to set off three bells in sequence. The first was on the plane in the DEA base, the second on the bridge in the mortar pits and the third in the well in the village. We set up to defend the DEA base and were hit by a hard and fast attack from the enemy; a group of us on our right fought off several enemy attacks before the bell went off. After we fell back to the mortar pits, the attackers soon set off the second bell and we legged it back to the village, where we did a much better job of holding them off until the game timed out, partly because a fairly large number of the attackers stayed in the mortar pits trying to take out the defenders still on the bus.

Luncheon followed, which, for me, was a very nice veggie burger, after which we went out to reverse the previous game. Our attack into the DEA base was slow as the defenders put up a strong fight, but the bell was eventually set off and we pushed towards the mortar pits where, after a delay, the next bell was located and rung. At this point, we were running well behind the other team's schedule. Ignoring the snipers upstairs on the bus, we pushed hard into the village and, after a few futile solo attempts to reach the bell in the well, a mass assault resulted in a player ringing it. Hurrah!

The weather was now changing rapidly, with heavy rain coming in; as the final game was to be a variation on last man standing, Gary and I decided to leave which, judging by the downpour I encountered on the drive home, was a sensible decision.

It was a really good day of airsoft; the games were well designed, while both teams played hard and were very well matched, which made for great gameplay. The contrast with last weekend was staggering,

The UTR is now in pieces on my work table.

Weapons used:
JG G3A3
CYMA MP5SD2
