printed a XM157 optic for display on my XM7. file is free on makerworld however I had to design a few parts (lenses, gubbins inside the laser range finder and I replaced a few printed screws with real ones). It's missing 2 things namely the 8 pin connector on the front and the writing on the dials. I may or may not get around to doing these if I can be arsed. Oh and I added a bit of weathering as advised by BigAl.

As I said, I don't have a 3D printer so I have a question... if the seperate components were printed individually would it make much difference to the 'look'?

no not really. If printed in FDM like mine you need to do a bit of sanding and priming to get rid of the layer lines. Printed in resin would be cleaner however a flexi resin mix would probably be best to survive getting knocked about without breaking. either way you still need to sort out the glass. I cut mine using a CNC however a pair of scissors and some thin transparent plastic would have the same look probably.

A nicer cheek piece for the TAC 41 recon stock. The original is weirdly tiny and uncomfortable. I printed it at work so I'll post a picture of it fitted when i get home

I've had my run ins with the law in the past
As a part, a rail is not a RIF, but if an IF is modified to a RIF by changing/modifying with a non bright rail then that may be an offenceEasy there bot it a rail not a RIF he can do what he wants with it. HMM wonder if you could 3d print rails with camp folded in.
If it’s already a RIF then modifying a rail is not an offence, if it’s an IF then it is an offence to modify into a RIF. VCRA offences are always an offence, then the VCRA defences permit the act
Section 36.1.b has the offence of modifying, however 36.2 states that the defences still applly
(Earlier drafts of the legislation did not permit any defence to ‘modify’ but the enacted legislation does permit the defences)
But if nobody gets caught then nobody gets prosecuted
36(1)A person is guilty of an offence if—
(a)he manufactures a realistic imitation firearm;(b)he modifies an imitation firearm so that it becomes a realistic imitation firearm;
(c)he sells a realistic imitation firearm; or
(d)he brings a realistic imitation firearm into Great Britain or causes one to be brought into Great Britain.
(2)Subsection (1) has effect subject to the defences in section 37.
No mention on this thread, but there are pictures elsewhere on this forum and it’s being fitted onto a black RIF (which does not show signs of having been painted) so it is not modifying an IF to a RIFNO mention of what he was going to do with it specifically so VCRA irrelevant.
As you have just confirmed that you don’t know what it is to be fitted for, my (very pedantic) post remains as a correction that the law may apply as opposed to “do what he wants”
Your post does however remain correct that painting a rail is not a VCRA offence, but painting a rail to modify an IF into a RIF would be an offence (subject to allowances for a VCRA Defence, taking note that the skirmisher Defence is based on intent, so anyone could technically buy an IF and legally paint it if their intent is to play at an insured site)

Reprinted it in black and slightly shorter. Sanded and painted and the seem is pretty hidden

I would very much like to get one of these. I dont have a printer though. Any idea how much it would cost? I am assuming this pairs with the Polymer Stock/lower reciever (the one with the pistol grip)? Instead of the Aluminium one?
