Top m249 minimi

Hello all, i have just got a top m249 minimi airsoft gun which belonged to my grandad found it in his shed whilst clearing it out.. its a bit on the sorry side with a little rust on it.. I dont intend to use it at all ill either clean it up and display it or sell it .. can anyone clarify its a genuine one and how much roughly itd cost to get it back to looking pretty and is possible to still get parts for it?

Greetings. It certainly looks real as I have one myself. Parts are hard to come by, but that's also why I would be interested in it.

Your grandad sounds like mine. What else did he have hidden in that shed? A couple of hand grenades? The nuclear launch codes?

Ahh I see thats a bit of shame parts are hard to come by well I guess my best option would be to part ways with it then. Hahah no unfortunately not only other thing he had was a pair of berreta 92sf

Firesupport list quite a few spares for the TOP 249 . Depends what parts you need , but worth a look.

It only looks like a bit of surface rush and should clean up fine. Back in the day PGC made a gearbox to replace the Top bellows system but they will be rocking horse pooh. I think an A&K M249 gearbox might fit.

I sent him the money, but heard nothing for 2 days, I asked if he had received the money, he did and said he would get the parcel out on Monday, which of course he didn't. He's been ghosting me since as he hasn't been online since 10 Jul 2026, but all the PMs I send him can just be read in the email so he doesn't need to come back here.

I messaged him over there using a different name and asked if it was available and he replies rather quickly that it is. There was a back and fourth, but of course when I bring up it was already purchased he goes quiet again.

I've received my money back from Paypal now at least, a reminder to everyone to not use the "friends and family" crap.

Thanks for the heads up, kinda unexpected as he had, following a warning, updated his pics to show a forum username & date, which would indicate he had it in his possession.
Add to that his ip was with bt, no vpn, & in the Guilford area, so not exactly a sophisticated scammer.
But some sort of scammer none the less, so he will be banned.
Glad you've got your money back, did he make any request for friends & family, or bank transfer ?

Nope, he seemed to want it collected initially. When I mentioned Paypal, he said he didn't have it, but provided "his brothers" Paypal address, although it ends in the same 3 numbers that his username uses.

My only guess as to what was going through his head, is that I was too far away to do anything about it when he didn't post the item and could still sell it elsewhere, doubling his money.

It is bizarre.

Thanks for letting us all know. I don't think there's a better example of needing to be vigilant as you were able to get your money back.

If he's been dishonest with selling the product, you wonder if clearing out his grandad's shed is the new "I'm selling it for a mate" sort of red flag to look out for.

Well I saw one of you left a comment on his usedairsoft advert, calling his scam out. That advert has now suddenly disappeared, what are odds?
