I picked up this boneyard VFC M16A2 a few weeks ago with the intention of fixing it up and using it for re-enactment/airsoft, however it ended up more costly than I had anticipated. Below is the details of what has been done since my ownership, make yourself comfortable - It's a long read...
When I purchased it
The replica fires perfectly (Minus the bolt lock on empty), I'm not sure of the range but the magnus with the 4uad bucking is a great combo in my A1 and that has some good range so I am sure this will also be great. Npas uses a 1.5mm allen key to adjust the FPS.
The upper is all OEM VFC minus:
Unfortunately, as petty as it is, the failure to lock back on empty is a deal breaker for me which is why I am selling this on. It's a perfect base for somebody to tinker with to set the bolt lock right or a perfect replica for somebody who isn't so anal about manual of arms and is happy to accept the bolt lock issue.
Price includes postage, it will be sent via ParcelForce 48 Hour tracked. PayPal Goods and Services only please.
I have tried to cover as much as I can remember at the time of listing, if you wish for more details please contact me via the website. I will not contact you via WhatsApp, I will ignore those who ask me to do so.

When I purchased it
- Some springs had been installed wrong
- There was plastic superglued to the bolt catch and magazine LOE lever
- The Magnus hop unit had been assembled incorrectly
- The valve knocker spring had disconnected so it was loose and had significant burring from hammer strikes causing friction
- The buffer and spring was bone dry
- The spring arms had been installed poorly so pins would walk out
- The rifle refused to lock back on empty
- The "barrel extension/chamber" tabs had been damaged so the barrel could spin freely
- The valve knocker end piece had snapped off (Does still function fine however)
- The rear pin retainer spring and pin were completely missing
- The gas tube roll pin was missing
- The bolt catch arm was bent and the retainer pin was forced in the incorrect side (Simple o-ring replacement fixed this)
- Bolt catch spring was crooked
- Rebuilt the lower so that all the springs are in the correct place and pins cannot walk out
- I've removed the superglued plastic from the bolt catch and LOE lever
- Removed a washer that was installed on the "ratchet" which was causing bind up (This is not standard from VFC)
- Replaced the chamber/barrel extension with a VFC OEM one so the barrel is secure
- Replaced the pot metal delta ring with the DNA one which was included with the original deal
- Replaced the rear pin detent and spring with fresh RS ones
- Fitted a Waldo Crimson NPAS (Best NPAS for the UK imo)
- Replaced the gas tube roll pin with a slightly larger one so it won't walk itself out
- Fixed the bolt catch retainer pin so the bolt catch doesn't fall out
- Fixed the Valve Knocker spring (It will require replacing eventually due to where it has been broken off) and filed the burrs so that the valve knocker functions smoothly as intended
- Relubricated everything that needs it (As you can see from oil coming from the pins, I used some silicone based stuff for the ratchet and sear springs)
- Rebuilt the Magnus pro hop unit so that it's secured properly. Please be aware the previous owner had filed the magnus barrel clip instead of the barrel so it WILL fall off with ease if you unscrew the shroud
- Replaced the bolt catch spring with a standard VFC OEM one
- The bolt will now lock back if you manually rack it with an empty mag however when firing it will not stop on empty, it does this on every mag I've tried in it
- I haven't replaced the bolt catch as trying different ones from my A1 and A4 didn't fix the lock back on empty so replacing it seemed pointless at the time
- The VFC buffer is chewed up from the previous owner. I planned to replace it with a DNA or original A2 buffer however due to the bolt lock I didn't end up doing so
- The flash hider is missing a grub screw as the one it had was rounding off and I only had silver ones to replace it with. Doesn't effect anything but worth mentioning for the sake of transparency

The upper is all OEM VFC minus:
- The Hop Unit - Has a Magnus 4UAD hop unit, paired with the 4UAD GBBR bucking and Unicorn 450MM Inner Barrel
- The handguard cap is a steel DNA cap
- The delta ring is the DNA delta ring which is full steel unlike the VFC pot metal one
- I fitted a DNA forward assist however it doesn't seem to work with the VFC BCG
