Back in 2019, the PLA received new gear as part of a significant programme to improve and standardise infantry personal equipment. Part of it was a helmet-mounted digital night vision device, powered by a battery mounted on the new plate carrier.
It was supposed to be a low-profile and cost-effective solution for giving every soldier some sort of night vision optic, though feedback was mixed as to the utility of this digital NV compared to a traditional image intensifier.
Note the item for sale here is a non-functional model. It has the same appearance as the real Type 19 NVD, and fits on the proprietary Type 19 helmet mount, but it is not the real thing.
