Hi all.

So i started out with a nuprol DPD (started cheap!) which was eventually refunded due to an issue. Since then i took a gamble and placed an order with gunfire which got me a spartac m4 (even cheaper right?!) Using a red dot and magnifier And a we 1911 (gg).

The theory being that i could learn the insides and out of the m4 and not feel bad about money spent. This has worked out well really, i have also gained a g and g that is now a stubby with a red dot and it's been fun so far.

Both boxes i have opened and shimmed, tried some springs, different buckings hops and the usual.

Sorry for the waffle...so i am thinking about the next purchase and i know there are loads of threads about but here goes...DMR...potentially.

I want to try something different from m4 and you see loads of them on site. So i haved eyed this up..

Something about that front end that i really like. And at roughly 400fps, if i lock it to single shot, i am set at my regular site. I don't know much about internals on them and the page is locked in polish so a bit stuck.

Now if the advice steers me away from DMR for that one, i may just power it down and use it as is.

So are the upgrade paths looking similar as any other m4/dmr build? Or am i in a dream world thinking that this would be a good purchase?

Thanks in advance.

Those AUG phantoms...

IMO

You would be better served with an Aug A2, with a suppressor. It's cheaper and doesn't have the excess weight. It still has a 509mm inner barrel, and the gearbox and externals other than the front are identical. The A2 model saves you £70.

And with the money saved you can add some mags and get a decent inner barrel and hop rubber.

Converting to semi only is as simple as a couple of layers of tape on the secondary contacts. It can be done in 5 minutes if you know the platform.

If the kit looked like an AUG Hbar with the correct bipod then it would be a better buy, but the Phantom kit for me at least it just doesn't push the right buttons.

Thanks for advice, really helpful.

I guess i was blinded by the scope and bipod and thinking it was a great package but you are right, money saved could go to better parts.

Will get googling about the switch tip too.

Cheers!

It happens more than you would think.

The scope isn't great for airsoft, 3-9x means most of it's range is useless. The scope you want is a 1.25-1.5 to 4x. With illumination. There are loads of china clones out there atm that are very good value for airsoft. The reason you want the 1.25/1.5 range is you can use the scope like a red dot sight, then if the situation needs it you can zoom in a touch to check out a target. Anything over 4x in airsoft is pointless our ranges are not that long, and we're hitting man sized targets rather than static target cards.

That 3-9x40 scope with mounts is at most a £25 part.

A cheap 1.5-4x30 scope will be about £60, but will be far easier to use, It will be bigger and heavier, and look like total overkill on an aug. It will however be much more usable.

The bipod again is just a cheap one. You can pick up the same model for £15 without having to look for deals. As for using one, you'd need a bigger heavier gun before it made sense. And even then most of the time you will be shooting from standing so it's just extra weight. I personally have never seen the need for them.

If you want to cheap out then don't bother with a scope at all, Get a 1x red dot sight instead. You won't miss the zoom function most of the time. For £20 on amazon you have a whole selection of china clones that are perfect for airsoft, and cheap enough that they can be thrown away when you break them.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I got used to using the 3x magnifier on it's own so can see what you mean about having just enough zoom.

Looks like i have even more googling to do now!
