I think my screw is stripped?

So I'm trying to put together my new rifle and it has 2 Allen head bolts, the heads themselves are fine but I think there's something wrong with either the screw itself or the place it's being screwed into because when I try and tighten it or loosen it, it just spins and doesn't move

What are you screwing into, a nut, or a thread cut into metal, plastic or wood? Whichever though, as the rifle is new contact the retailer and arrange to send it back, as it's obviously faulty.

not sure which screws you are on about but is there possibly a nut behind them that is supposed to be captured but has come away from its capture point and is just rotating when you turn the screw rather than staying still and allowing the screw to unwind?

yes, as others said. have you given it some force? I always thought that as well but recently when building my PC some of the screws weren't very good quality and would only really move with a lot of force, as well as they felt like they were cross threading but it was just the cheap screws that were actually fine. If it is stripped, how will you get it out?
