GT Power/iCharger -- 6S or 8C - Advice Required

Hi guys

New to airsoft and trying to spec out the equipment I will need, currently joined a club and will have my ukara shorlty

Will be buying either a KWA M4 or G & P M4 not sure yet

I'm looking to purchase a charger for lipo battery packs, must be reliable

I am currently looking at 2 though am confusing myself the more i look

The 2 I'm looking at are - as you can see GT can charge lipo 8S and the icharger 6S,, am I ever likly to have to charge/balance 8S -- ????

You will never use 6s or 8s in airsoft, that's 22.2v and 29.6v respectively.

Comes with everything you need apart from the 4mm banana plugs for charging, you then need your connector type on the end of the banana plugs (deans, tamiya, mini tamiya) You're much better off with deans though if you are going down the LiPo route.

Both seem very similar though it seems as though the icharger will allow you to monitor the lipo through your pc and has a firmware upgrade feature

Next question

In regards to the power supply to the charger from the mains voltage

The icharger has a 5v input jack and also bannana plugs for the input for 12v

What power supplies are you guys using at the moment

For lipos you will want a KWA hands down! they can take lipos stock without modifying the internals.

I thought that 6S or 8S was the number of lipo battery in a pack ie 6 or 8 batterys

On the last point.. 1s is 3.7v. In a LiPo the S is the cell count and 1 cell is 3.7v. Confusing when you're used to NiMh I know.

Exibit the one I linked you allows you to plug in at the wall, and for less than £50 it's a great deal and I'm very happy with mine. The ones you have linked do have the extra features but are primarily focussed on the higher charge rate. I doubt you'll be getting a very high capacity LiPo as this affects the power delivered greatly. (I have a 6000mah 2s Lipo that I use for R/C which is capable of around 250 amps, regular NiMh's are 50A max)

I really need a charger that can run from a 12 Volt source so if I'm at an airsoft meet over the weekend I can still have the ability to charge my Lipo's in the field

Just need to decide which one of teh above chargers to buy

If you're getting anything over 2000mah capacity I doubt you'd have to charge it half way through the day..

Either charger will be fine, it's really up to you and what you prefer. As long as you're spending over £40 you should be getting your hands on a good strong bit of kit.

As for power supply, I'd say anything £15 and over, and make sure it matches the specifications of your charger, e.g. if you'll want to charge at 5A (can't see why your going to need to) then the power supply must be capable of the same. Or.. you can always be cheap and use your cars battery

can be charged from the car, simple to use and does all types of battery and comes with all connectors, well mine came with deans rather than mini, but that suited me

my 7.4v 2200mAh 15c easily lasts for a whole day before i rebalance charge
