I will be buying one for the short ris rail on my AK 74 un soon, but have no previous experience of these.

I don't want a long one that dangles down and gets in the way of magazine changing.

Don't know whether to go for something like this: https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/dytac-br-style-force-grip-black-short

Or one of the Magpul copies like this:  https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/magpul-pts-afg-2-angled-fore-grip-version-2-foliage-green

These are both relatively cheap compared to some of the other stuff on the market. Similar types to the above are available much more cheaply from other retailers and Amazon, but I suppose they aren't very strong or reliable. Please correct me if I am wrong. https://www.amazon.co.uk/AIRSOFT-STYLE-ANGLED-FOREGRIP-BLACK/dp/B00PIKTGVG/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_200_tr_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=KRPEW5FFFENYMT0ST9GQ

and   https://www.airsoftworld.net/rvg-style-grip-for-20mm-rail-black.html

Which of the two types do you think would work better with the gun I have ordered: https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/lct-tx-s74un-airsoft-gun-aeg

Get it from eBay mate half the price if you select uk sellers or quarter of the price if you don’t mind waiting from HK . For that AK I’d get a folding one my self .

I’ve not got any experience with AKs, but personally I use vertical grips large enough for the length of my hand. From what you say, I think you might like the BCM Gunfighter Vertical Grip Mod3. It’s compact and slightly angled so you could have it facing away or towards your magazine depending on how you are most comfortable. I wouldn’t buy an angled grip personally, as they’re designed to help make it easier to maintain a stable hold on the gun through shot recoil, which is only really useful on .223 upwards, definitely not an Airsoft gun.

I find anything other than a vertical grip pointless, might as well just grab the barrel otherwise.

True but some people have the need to be tacticool, combined with video game logic that dictates that fore grips make your gun more accurate

My AKS74UN before with fixed foregrip and then changed to a folding one. My primary driver was to hold a pressure switch for the torch.

Edit: Nowt to do with tacticool - that full metal monster gets heavy during a full day of CQB.

It's one thing to grab the foregrip if its smooth.

Another thing entirely to grab picatinny rails. Not the most comfortable platform to prop up a fairly heavy little gun.

I think the magpul style will probably be the most useable. I will take the advice of Druid and get something from the Bay. Little bits and pieces for airsoft are often irritatingly expensive. I'm not keen on the folding ones Druid. They are usually large and the design is a bit too busy for me.

I like the short pistol grips better but I think they would give me problems.

Unless I ran a hicap and rarely had to change mags.

One 450 hicap in a rented G36c has proven to be more than enough for 3 hours CQB. No automatic fire, and I don't pull the trigger for the hell of it anyway. I always have plenty of bbs left.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Am I the only one who hates vert grips?

Find them uncomfortable and they make my wrist ache after a while.

Is there actually any benefit to using them in airsoft?

Yeahno... might as well just not bloody bother haha!!!
But it looks so Gucci.  Ive gome though  load personly i pefer to tge grip   rail or if there space use the stubby vertical foregrip.  But the feont of the magwell seems  to dl the same job for me

Nice AK.

However wouldn't a sling be better if it gets heavy as foregrips may give you a different or even a more comfortable hand position but not ease the weight?

if you're like me then the benefit is that you have the opposite problem that not using a foregrip results in wrist aching.

plus they do make a handy supplementary carry handle for when your not shooting stuff.

How about just fitting a set of rail covers? I used to have a ak74su and to be honest a foregrip just got in the way.

I prefer using a foregrip.  Got mine off eBay.  Cheap and chearful.  the evo also came with one.

I can see it being more of a challenge with an AK variant.

I've got a folding one, and even when folded, I find it easier on the hands than holding the picatinny rail.

Cheers

G
