I currently have a we 1911 and my issue with it is the mag capacity, I find it a bit too small (im probably missing too much), but I do only have the 1 mag for it.
For your first pistol, I'd recommend new & gas (TM or KWA), something that uses a double stack mag, that isn't a nightmare to find a holster for (M9, Glock, newer KWA 1911 PTP's).
Forgot to say, I'd recommend avoiding full auto gas pistols like the G18, G23 or M93. In my experience they always break, get stuck on full auto or somewhere in between (stopping working altogether).
Many thanks for your inputs guys, really appreciate it. I'm looking at getting something reliable that wouldn't make a hole in my wallet. I mainly use my Krytac CRB MK2, but I want something more compact when I peak behind a corner. I'll dig up a bit the forum to see what people recommend and go from there in choosing a model.
I have a TM Hi-Capa, works well in the cold and is pretty consistent with accuracy. Also there is loads of after market furniture you can get for it if you want to get fancy
