No they aren't, Lipos are as safe as any other unless you're an idiot with them, a lot of phones use lipo batteries

Lipo's are fine if you balance them... They are not if you do 2 x charge without balance. My Lipo turned into a smoke grenade. I learned my lesson.

I forced a tiny .1A charge through on Nimh setting until it crept up enough for me to balance/charge it.

If they are 1300Mah, then I charge at 1.3. If they're 2200Mah charge at 2.2a. That's what I've been doing, always balance charge mine too.

Confirmed^ You should set the Charge Rate (I) with regard the the #Mah on the battery. You can't really go wrong using balance and the right settings. Just don't repeat a normal charge sequence like I said about mine above
