Sold me a broken motherboard (both PCIE slots were F***ed). And then they tried telling me it was my own fault and i wasnt entitled to a refund or a replacement. After a day of arguing with someone that could hardly talk english they said i could return it for a new working one. They told me it would be collected tuesday and i had to be there. So i took the day off work. Never arrived. Phoned them up, told me it would be collected wednesday. Took the day off again, still no collection.
My mate had similar issues until he got a friend who was a higher up involved. I stopped using them once they closed the Reading store as they cost more anyway.
I used to work in the reading store!!, they fired me just before they closed all their stores so they didn't have to pay any redundancy. They have gone massively down hill since then as they have been concentrating on B2B sales.
Yeah it was a good team, It was always cool when people came to buy loads of stuff for their projects, had some interesting conversations with customers.
I wonder if they weren't making money with their stores or if it was one of those silly "restructuring" things some manager thinks up. Although it was about half an hour drive from my old work it was the only decent place for business grade kit.
To be fair they had more Acct Mgrs than they needed really. Shame though I got on really well with ours - she was a gamer and sorted me out extra discount on graphics cards and stuff!
Out of the 4 stores only the Reading and Portsmouth were making profits, so the closed all but the Portsmouth store. The profits margins on IT hardware is tiny, when the first 4TB HDD came on to the market Novatech were only making something like 38p profit on each one.
think your technically entitled to compensation for the "subsequent loss" of having to take another day off, is bit a hard one to successfully squeeze outta companies though
