Don't buy a sniper rifle. Read the stickies on the New players board :)

Well tbh everyone recommends you don't start off as a sniper.

Everyone says don't but why?

As above I recommend that you start with an aeg(cm16) and take it from there

Because it'll ruin your day when you can't hit anything. A decent sniper costs lots to upgrade. If you start with something like an m4 then you won't be out gunned and you'll enjoy the day more. However go to a few games and use a rental.

Thanks for the advice but as stubborn as I am i'm going to try and snipe anyway, as I cant get the feel for assault rifles or other styles of gun. (I hunt with a rifle, which is probably why I find the other styles of gun uncomfortable and difficult to use), but your advice is greatly appreciated and I will "attempt" to use the other styles in a few rental games to see if I can adjust to them

if you have £600 and hours of free time to research upgrades and how to do them go for it.

To get a real advantage over AEG's you have to put a lot of work into the rifle.

I have gone down the route, believe me turning up with a "sniper" and not being able to hit anyone gets old quick. IMO being on the front line in the action is much more fun. By running a bolt action youre purposely putting your self at a disadvantage, people that do run bolt actions...
