fantastic cheers guys! I've found that the paint isn't getting scratched or chipped, but kinda squashed leaving a shiny mark. I'm hoping when i give it a final paint-job a layer of such will stop this happening and keep it looking uniformly matt-black
Matt black is one of the hardest finishes to keep looking good unless you use a decent hard finish. Hence Cerakote. Acrylic paint in general is quite soft but if you really want a hard finish with paint then you're into the 2 pack epoxy stuff which is pretty nasty.
i used the military paints from halford and actually find them a lot better than krylon etc. they also do a matt clear finish that is a hell of a lot better than the plasticoat stuff. if you can afford cerakote go for that option
ceratoke does seem a good way to get proper professional looking finish. i don't mind shelling out for the paint, but will have to see if any my car renovating friends have a spray gun i can use, dont think i can justify buying one.
good point - i've just been looking at it and seems it'd cost pretty much the same price to have a pro do it. I know it's airsoft but £150 does make me twitch.
Can anyone recommend a pro? Somewhere in/near berkshire would be a bonus
