I loved Dragon Rising, it's the closest thing to a combat sim on console, and on the hardest difficulty it's near impossible, spent hours on it, always wanted to play co-op with someone but no one else liked it, and now I don't have it =[
Red River was a pile of shit, it might seem "refined" but I thought it seemed more like DR had been attacked by the arcade bat.
I actually really enjoyed DR too, there is a lot of walking and not much action relative to cod/bf, but if you are patient and prepared to not just spam bullets into everything its a decent game. Its a different type of game to cod-field.
However I will caveat that by saying those flipping helicopter pilots made me rapidly detest it on more than one occasion!
Ed, i see your top weapon is the L85. I use that when I go medic but not sure on the set up. How do you run with it? I use just a holographic and an angled foregrip.
I apologise this is so off topic for everyone else.
Yeah, you need the Strike at Karkand DLC, and you have to play Squad Deathmatch to unlock it too, I'll be surprised if anyone's playing that anymore. =[
There's the L86 in the close quarters DLC, but I can't remember what you need to do to get it.
If you're on PC, I'd say Bad Company, because I can tell you right now the console community is dead for it, and it's not worth buying for the campaign. If you're on console, I'd get OFR, but be aware that a lot more people hated it than liked it.
I played it on the hardest difficulty because you can basically do what you want to complete the mis...
...missions, approach from any angle, etc etc. The squad command system is actually pretty detailed, you can even get them to patrol in certain formations, but the AI is generally terrible... Not to put you off lol.
I think if you could play it through on co op with a friend, or 3, it might be one of the best games ever though, and I did really enjoy it.
