Atheism- the belief that there was nothing & nothing happened to nothing & then nothing magically exploded for no reason creating everything & then a bunch of everything magically rearranged itself for no reason which then turned into dinosaurs. ;)

Teddyboy ya wrong there mate Atheists believe in Science not a made up book that has no proof behind it what so ever. I dont believe in Talking snakes, Dragons, Orks, Ghosts, Fairies or this God or the 300 Gods before this one was made up. If you look up the God Horus and see how similar he was to Jesus. Born to a Virgin under a star blar blar blar. About 2000 years before this though lol. Im really sure the world is more then 5000 years old too lol The 1st testament seems to be lacking in sc...

The difference between science and religion is that science is right even if you don't believe in it! Also - atheism is just not believing in a higher power though surely? Pretty sure you don't need to "believe in science" to be an atheist?

Aye I thought that Lozart. Though (for discussion sake) someone could say Scientific theories remain theories becasue they cannot be proved outright. Is believing in them not similar to faith in whatever god? When you take into account experiences leading to that faith being akin to scientific research leading to a theory... just my hungover ramblings

I know some physicists that could probably argue that point with you for hours :)

Take gravity for example (no not the film) it DEFINITELY exists but there are several theories about how it works. The basic concept of religion expects you to believe in a god or gods with no empirical proof of his/her/its existence.

AS GEAORGE MICHAEL SAID, you gotta have Faith!!! thats the backbone of the whole argument !! Faith!!! 5000 years old the world didnt you know. Talking snakes, slavery all kinds going on in the bible. Water into Wine too!!!!! Like an old age Darren Brown!!

Actually, not believing in a higher power is agnosticism. Atheism is believing in the non-existence of a higher power. Theories such as the 'theory of evolution' can sometimes be proved but remain theories because the mechanics of how they work are still open for debate. Evolution is a fact but is still not 100% understood. The same as the theory that Richard Dawkins is a tw*t. Until we understand why he is such a collosal bell end, it's still called a theory :D
